Beauties What makeup products and sizes are allowed through TSA?
are lipglosses, lipsticks, concealers,
can u help I have a Trip coming up and I'm a bit confused and dont want my makeup taken away.

most lip glosses and concealers come in bottles that are small enough to carry on. The TSA wont allow more than 3 ounces per container, so just be sure to double check the labels on your items, each item SHOULD list how many fluid ounces it contains.

thanks so my nyx jumpo pencils, my concealer that comes in a creamy pan are allowed without the zippie?

i would think so. To be safe, I compartmentalize all my products in a ziplock so if the TSA agent is feeling frisky, it's easier for them to see it's not a liquid.

I agree with Erin. Just make sure everything's together at the airport so it's less of a hassle!

Erin is right about what the TSA allows but I found they're REALLY good about letting you take multiple items per bag. Have two carry ones - split your beauty products. Use the travel zip loc bags so you know what your limits are. All items MUST fit in those zip loc travel bags.
Best thing to take - minis. Pressed powders are actually exempt, that I've seen, from the liquids limit. Also exempt are solid lipsticks. Still all items must fit the travel bags.

Anything liquid has the 3 oz. limit on it - and although TSA is pretty lax about policies, watch out when you travel internationally - that's how they F*ck you ROYAL by making you toss or dump products. I remember a few years back when I stopped in Korea waiting for a connecting flight, the hair serum and piercing disinfectant sea water spray I bought BRAND NEW were TOSSED. $40 down the drain in the blink of an eye... all because they let me through the airport at SFO just fine, but internationally, they're more strict. =(

D: I'm butting in to complain. Over here (UK) we have to take one bag (and they have them at the airport and you can't take any bigger than what they use!) with a 100ml limit (on each item) and creams/lipglosses/lip balms/eyeshadow pencils are all included. If you can't close the bag then it gets taken away. I even got made to put in my mascara and pencil eyeliner the last time i flew.
I think there is also a limit of how many items you can carry with a total amount too.
So, yeah, totally second the international travelling thing. We are SO strict over here and they won't think twice about binning stuff (although if you travel with a friend then always try to put stuff in their bag!)

100 ml limit on EVERYTHING as in total amount? That's... insane. I guess one of those all in one palettes (eyeshadow, lip gloss, mascara, blush) is what's going to end up being allowed sooner or later.
I guess ELF for the win then. At $1 per item who cares if it gets tossed out at security. lol

oo no! i mean 100ml per single item. the total amount is... 1000ml so ten items only if you take 100ml containers. the bag is like 20 x 20cm you wouldn't be able to fit 10 items in anyway!
i'm actually reading this off an airline site and it says you are also not allowed any more than one coat.
we also aren't allowed any more than one bag. when i travelled in america i was allowed a laptop bag and a handbag but here it is one bag and if not you need to pay 30quid (on this airline) to check it on - so that is something to remember as well if you travel abroad!

If you absolutely must have fluids, just pack it in the bag you're going to check in and do not carry it in your carry-on bags. You won't face any risk of it being tossed for some stupid rule, but you will have to keep in mind to pack it carefully. I like to wrap my liquid foundation and mineral/setting powders in cellophane/seranwrap and then toss them all into a big ziplock bag. Afterwards, I wedge the bag between my towel and thick coat I pack in my suitcase, and it's safe for travel. =D

A lot of people seem to believe that this rule only applies to liquids. Not true. Anything that forms to the container it's in (even creams, gels, really thick liquids, etc.) counts. You can fill a quart size bag with as much as you can fit in it as long as each individual item is less than 3 oz or 100 ml.
Do all airports/employees adhere to this rule? No. You can get away with stuff now and then, and I certainly do. Sometimes I'm only carrying lip balm with me and I don't feel like hunting around for a bag. I haven't been stopped for that. But, I have seen people flip out when they get stopped for having lip glosses and a plethora of other things. They usually just give you a bag to put it all in, but sometimes they get rid of it. Personally, I would stay safe and put it all in the little baggie if it isn't dry.

It's not really that big of a deal. Most makeup items are okay. Foundations are mostly 1 oz. Powders don't count. Lipstick, mascara, eyeliner, doesn't count. For face wash, lotion, toner, shampoo, etc go to Target and buy those clear travel containers for like a $1 or so and pour it in them. Put everything in a clear ziplock bag. Also yes, if it is gels they will toss it. Happened to me. So if you wear a gel deodorant then get the travel size. Aerosol Hairspray and Shaving cream can't be in a carry on at all as they will make you check your bag or throw it away.
And don't feel pressured.. MOST TSA are nice and helpful and realize that some of the rules are BS and confusing. If it's not in a plastic bag, they will give you one.

Carressa, lipstick and mascara do count. They are creams/gels, and they told me to put mine in the bag or toss them.

Guess it's different cause I went through my local airport (smaller airport) and DFW on the way back home and had lipstick in my purse and in my makeup bag and they didn't say anything. Either way. If it is or isn't just put it in a ziplock bag to be sure.
