Is OPI Shatter really truly amazing like everyone says??

Haha it's not that it's a "really truly amazing" polish...it's just a new trend and I think everyone is all hyped about it because it's something *different*, not just another color. An interesting effect that you can add on top of any color you want.
Lots of other brands have their own version of it too now. The only other one I've tried is China Glaze crackles and they work just as well as OPI's. So if you are looking for something new and different, I'd say get it :)

I personally do not think so. Crackle came out about 12 years ago when I was in middle school and it was miss then. Did not really work nor stay on. Not sure why they are trying it again or why everyone feels it's so new. (Note: OPI was not the one who released it 12 years ago, in fact I can't remember who it was, a drugstore brand though.) If you want to try it out for yourself, pick up a cheaper branded bottle at Walgreens or Target. I do not think it's worth the cash, but good luck!

@Amy Lynn - it was Covergirl.
@Isabella - it's a current fad that's popular thanks to Katy Perry. It's not "amazing" but it is fun to have.

it's not the most amazing thing in the world but it is a lot of fun. it kinda adds a little flavor and fun to your nails in a very simple way. i think its fun! everyone should own atleast one of the shatter or crackle polish.

I dont think its that great. I got tired of it really fast but its a fun look. I tried the sally hansen crackle though!

@Yasmin, thank you! I'm glad someone recalled this! I just remember my mom having a terrible time assisting me in applying it since I was a terribly frustrated fashion forward middle-schooler lol! I remember it being an obnoxious blue too! =)

Shatter is fun, bu I recently bought it and it does have it's downsides. It seems it applies well on one hand, but then the product on the brush itself starts to dry by the time you get to your next hand and it becomes super thick and doesn't crackle as well. It is fun though, and I do plan on buying some one China Glazes colorful ones.

^Arie C. - I completely agree. It was great fun when it first came out, but I'm so over it now...
I feel kind of bad because some of my girlfriends are just discovering it, but I'm just like, "Meh." - I say it only because I know they'll be over it in a few weeks as well. The product dries out too fast, and it only looks good on finger nails. Toe nails vary in size too much to make it look good, and it just makes your feet look dirty [in black]. =(
It is a great and lazy way to prolong your manicure when your tips start chipping and you don't want to remove it. Slap another layer on and you're good for another week or so... haha.

I got it recently the opi for sephora I like it but the black seems to give the best effect and I also have the gold which doesn't crackle as much and the textures of both are weird.

I have the black and pink ones by opi. I heard bad things about other brands not working and I saw the best results with china glaze and opi.

i only found amazing results with OPI. China Glaze not so much.

With China Glaze the trick is not to go over the same spot with the brush otherwise it won't crack properly.

it's fun if you enjoy the trend.. i think it's overhyped and i never got into it

i remember when it came out years ago and i was so jealous that my cousin had some and i never got it. and then they released the new stuff and to be honest, i think the OPI is awesome. i tried the OPI for Sephora brand version and it sucks... which is odd.

Eh. I purchased the black crackle from the Katy Perry line and I NEVER use it. I'll probably only use it on the nail polish jewelry I like to make :)
BTW, silver crackle from China Glaze is SO goopy and it never comes out nice on my fingers.. I don't know if that's my fault or if it's always that way though..

I used my OPI black crackle polish maybe 4 times before it just turned into a thick sludge. I was not pleased. I much prefer the China Glaze crackle polishes. The Crushed Candy one is gorgeous and it hasn't dried up and goo-ified like the OPI crackle. I also have a white sally hansen one but its not opaque enough and I've only ever used it once. I'm kind of over the trend.
@Soma is totally right about it being the lazy persons way to spruce up a manicure when you're not in the mood to take everything off and do a whole new look. That's pretty much the only time I use crackle polish anymore.

I have OPI and China Glazes crackle. I have also purchased other brands to see the comparison which the end result is OPI and china glaze work better than all others. They have to be stored well and seeled really well or you will get a clump of nail polish that you would have to toss.

I have OPI in black shatter. I tried other brands and they just didn't seem to work but the OPI did dry up quickly which is disappointing for the price I paid.

I have a handful of OPI crackles (I hate the red and was disappointed with pink, the rest are pretty good). I actually think China Glaze has some better ones, but honestly, crackle can be fun, but not "gotta have it or I might die" amazing in my opinion. But that's just me ;)

Better than Sally Hansen's Crackle but OPI is not worth the splurge it I agree with @DJ M. China Glaze does the job just right plus I haven't seen OPI without a Glitter-Free Crackle Polish. China Glaze has a few options

I think OPI have the best crackle out of the bunch. Just depends if you like the trend, im not so fussed.

I think it was cool at first and then after applying it to your nails a couple of times, you kinda get bored. Plus, my OPI crackle polish started drying and getting all lumpy and I only used it 4 times. :/
