Stay clear of St. Ives scrubs. The granules in them are so sharp--similar to tiny shards af glass--they will leave little cuts on your face where bacterican can form and cause breakouts. As an aesthetician I always insist my clients stay away from that stuff. My favorite exfoliator is Dermalogicas MultiVitamin Thermafoliant...I literally used it like 10 minutes ago. The Ready, Set, Scrub from the Clean Start Line is good too and a little bit more inexpensive.
I usually make my own exfoliators with honey, a little Vaseline, and raw sugar. Just make a paste with it and slather it on. It makes your skin ridiculously soft and moisturized
I agree, Ocean Salt is a wonderful product! Be aware though that if you take certain prescriptions, overusing products with high amounts of grapefruit essential oil like Ocean Salt or Snowglobe (both from lush) can prevent the medications from working. The affected meds can be anything from antidepressants to heart medication! If you have any doubts whether yours are affected, consult a doctor before you buy. If you plan to use only occasionally, you are probably fine but once a week or more was the tipping point for me, and I found out the hard way!
I just discovered tonight that gently shaving your face with a straight razor is an amazingly effective way to exfoliate! If you don't feel comfortable doing this on yourself, but are interested in trying it, spas call it 'dermaplaning.'
I have very sensitive skin and oily skin. I've been using eclos instant radiance facial scrub and I love it but when I'm feeling more organic I mix sugar with honey and that works just fine. http://a-hearts.blogspot.com/
I'm a huge fan of Reviva Labs Light Skin Peel. When you put it on it's a gooey mess and it drys to a texture I can only describe like rubber cement (if you remember that from your school days). And you remove it by gently rubbing it off. But it works wonderfully as an exfoliator and doesn't bother my sensitive skin.
Whatever you do don't use st. Ives ! I go to school for aesthetics and I learned how bad that is for your face. Great for your body not your face! Anything with large uneven grains in them will cut your skin and may cause hyper pigmentation. It depends on what skin type you have for me to recommend an exfoliant for you. A good affordable brand is neutragena.

Right now Sephora has a dual action exfoliator for $13 if you're looking to save money. It's pretty awesome.
