Make sure the school you go to is an accredited school (recognized school)

Just because they teach makeup doesn't make them a real school- so if they're recognized you'll be able to use them to apply for pro cards.

Also, if your focus is makeup try not to get into a cosmetology school their main focus will be hair and only barely makeup.

While you want to learn just makeup (so do I) I toured a full cosmetology school and fell in love. Realistically, you'll make so much more money and be a lot more versatile if you can also do hair and the other things (basics facials, nails, waxing) I think it's a great thing to have these extra skills. You could be the lead MUA artist in the salon, a hairstylist could quit and you could help fill the position and make more money. You never know.

There is a great school, locations in LA and NYC. they offer top-brands in their makeup kits, free workshops and you can schedule a tour anytime to check them out.
They also have the best After-Care!
