OKAY SO I got a job interview for cosmetics associate at Macy's!!! This will be my first job in cosmetics! I was just wondering if I could get some tips from you ladies on:
1. What to wear
2. How do to my makeup
ETC ETC. :)
AHHHH I AM SO EXCITED :)

I used to do hiring for the cosmetic department at Macy's, but usually the Human Resources person will do your interview, and she/he most likely will know absolutely nothing about makeup. Just do your makeup nice. Don't over do it. A nice clean, neutral look is perfect. Wear all black, no black jeans. Black slacks or a skirt, close-toed shoes or heels, and a black blouse that doesn't show cleavage.
They will not ask you questions about makeup, so there's nothing you really need to know. The interview is just like any other interview for any other job. They more try to get a feel for your personality and how you'd handle certain work situations. I hope that helps

Just be yourself and answer all questions sincerely. For wardrobe, all black is definitely the way to go. As for makeup selection, I would temper that to what counter you're applying for. The person doing the hiring may not know everything about makeup but they do have an idea of what a Clinique lady should look like or what a Lancome lady should look like and so on. Good luck dear! I know you'll do well.

congratulations! :) Try to wear something simple, but yet chic. Maybe some dark jeans and a blazer with a colorful top (or nude) under it ? :) and some silver/golden jewelry too! :) and maybe some high heels, but not too high so that you won't feel awkward, unless if you already use much high heels :) or of course you can use some pretty ballerinas too if the weather allows :) and for the make-up, I'd recommend some basic (nothing too "lady gaga" if you know what I mean) :) good luck!

@Laura J. no offense but u never wear jeans to a job interview the jewelry should be very minimal and that is to any job interview a first impression is the most lasting so u always wanna come in the door seeming very professional and more intrerested in the job than your wardrobe I say take a look at all the sales associates at the different beauty counters they have the same attire all black usually slacks or a nice skirt down to the knees a nice size heel nothing too high you want to look as if u are ready to work and nice blouse a blazer all black is fine hair should be very neat and makeup very neutral maybe a subtle smokey eye with neutral colors and Lauren C. is right they will not know anything about any of the counters that u may be working for the only thing they are looking for is a great personality because even though to u its a makeup job to them it is a sales associate postion and the main thing they wanna see is if u have what it takes to be apart of Macy's sells team once you get hired at whatever counter u work at their will be someone there to train u on the products and what the overall look for that company is and remember the main tips to a great interview : look the interviewer in the eye when answering questions and smile to show interest, know a little bit about the company go on their website to get a few facts, the last thing is be yourself and answer all questions with as honest an answer as possible. But you will be fine just do the best you can and relax and congratulations and good luck :-)
