Okay, so I am extremely new to this. I have had nail polish for years and years. I love the stuff and I am slowly building back up my collection. Although I am sort of stuck, for the past week I have been watching Youtube nail polish haul videos. I love them, they have wonderful info on nail products and LOADS of colors i'd love to try! But I cannot seem to figure out which base and top coats to get. Any suggestions???

I manage at a local salon/spa. We have tried TONS of different brands to use. Our tried and true are Rejuvacote by Duri Cosmetics for your base coat. Not only does your polish last longer, but it even has strengthening properties! And I personally NEVER get stains from dark polish when I use this one. Our base coat is the really popular Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat. It dries to the touch in minutes and has a non-stop wet shine that lasts! Hope this helps! ;)

I use OPI top and base cost, works like a charm

I agree with Tara K. on the Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat. That thing dries faster than I've ever seen in my life! haha As for a base coat, I use CND Sticky Base Coat. Love it. The nail polish adheres to it quickly and it lasts for a long time too!

Seche Vite is the BEST fast drying top coat Ive used so far. Nicely shiny and easy smooth application like liquid glass

For a base coat i am a OPI Nail Envy addict and for a top coat I use INM Out the door top coat. It dries in 45 seconds and is really glossy. It saves having to wait ages fo it to dry so less likely to mess it up whilst waiting

I highly recommend Nicol by OPI base coats (cause it's slightly cheaper than the OPI base coats and less painful for my student income). The base coat glides on like a charm and doesn't turn my nails yellow as opposed to my Sally Hansen one which turned my nails yucky yellow.

As for top coat, I'm agreeing with everyone on Seche Vite!

Seche Vite for a top coat all the way! I also like the Orly Bonder base coat.

I like Seche Vite a lot, but I noticed since I have been using it for a while that it shrinks my nail polish :(....I did some research and found out others were having the same issues as well. It had a shrinky-dinks effect on the ends of my nails or near the cuticles (sigh).....anyone have any suggestions or solutions lol??? I'm a college student. Shoot, I was lucky to find the Seche Vite on clearance at Walgreens.

I love Seche Base. I've used it for, geez, when it was the only base coat Seche had. I like it alone with a clear coat over the top. It adds just enough shimmer to a nice full set of pink and whites without having to use shimmer product.

another vote for seche vite

I looove it

You HAVE to try Essie's Good to Go Fast Drying Top Coat. I'm serious. My nails are dry in five minutes, and fully hardened in like an hour. PLEASE try it!!!

My favorite top coat is the Sally Hansen insa-dry anti chip top coat. It's amazing, makes your nails so glossy and shiny! :)

I really like the essie top coats and base coats they are really good. They really help to strengthen your nails whilst keeping my nail polish from chipping. My favourite would probably be the trillionails, which is a part of their 3 step nail kit.
I would also recommend the barryM top coat if you are in the UK, its cheap and brilliant!

Also if you want to try a matte top coat. Check out my blog for a giveaway!

I use Leighton Denny UNDERCOVER base coat! Looks lovely and dries matte and masks discolouration whilst protecting them. I use Seche Vite as a top coat always! Perfect, supwr glossy finish every time!

I use Out the Door now, I was a Seche Vite girl until I read the bottle. They have a warning about containing the ingredient that is known to cause cancer, and birth defects. I know none of our polishes are great for us, but that kinda steered me away. I think it is just in the top coat, though. Out the Door dries just as quickly for me, and shiny, although not that glass shine SV has.
