I usually shampoo everyday because my scalp gets itchy easily, plus living in a very humid place makes it all annoying. Some suggested doing co-shampoo because I have really dry hair, tried it but as soon as my hair dries my scalp gets itchy :( My question is how long can one go without shampooing, for days in a week? Should I tackle my scalp problem first or hair problem? Help!

I think cowashing is GREAT when you actually massage the conditioner not only into your hair but your scalp as well. Sometimes I even mix some olive oil in with a conditioner so that I know my hair and scalp is getting moisturized, and Ionly wash my hair once every 7 to 10 days.. It seems like you have a dry scalp and that's why it is itchy. You could try oiling your scalp with coconut oil since it's the closest to the natural oils that are produced in our body. Also, washing your hair everyday is actually unhealthy for your hair because you need to give your hair time to actually get the oils that develop naturally. For you, I think washing your hair every three days or every other day would be good, and you should also get a 100% Boar Brush to brush your hair because it distributes the oils from your scalp to your hair when it is straight. Hope this helps.

I cowashed for a couple of months, and it didn't give me any itchies at all. You have to use a LOT of conditioner on your scalp, and really massage it in. Then leave it on for a bit. Massage again, and rinse. Rinse really well. Make sure there's none left so you can get that clean feeling. It worked out great for me, but it took so much time in the shower so I went back to regular shampooing after a while.

You can also stretch your washes if you think cowashing isn't for you. Instead of washing everyday, wait a day or two. I actually only wash my hair every 3 days. There was an adjustment period, but after that, I've had no problems with oily and itchy scalp at all.
