I've been using Blue Magic Coconut Oil in a jar for the longest and I have finally ran out. I have pure coconut oil, but it's hard to oil my scalp with it since it's in a liquid form like water. Does anyone know of any good hair oils or greases that won't clog my scalp but will keep my scalp and hair moisturized? I'm not straightening my hair for two months and it is so hard to keep it moisturized
I would use pure castor oil. The B&B product contains a derivative of mineral oil (Paraffinum Liquidum), which is horrible for your hair. The first ingredient is canola oil anyway. Are you newly natural? I haven't had a perm since '97 and treated my hair poorly for years by heat and not reading the ingredient labels. I would advise you check out the 4a, 4b and 4c forums on NaturallyCurly.com. You'll learn a lot from those ladies. Most importantly, you'll learn that most of the good things your hair needs shouldn't be purchased in Walgreens or Sallys.
I've been natural for four years now (since I was 15). Most of the products I get are from a beauty supply warehouse from my hometown, but I'm in another town for college now. Thank you so much! This really helps
@ Morgan I never said anything about high-end! That is your assumption. This topic is hair care, not makeup. My reference to Walgreens and Sallys was centered around ingredients. FACTS: I buy hair products from discount online shops and make my own. The products that are costly, I stretch out and make it last months. I buy liters of Giovanni conditioner for $14; 8 oz of jojoba and almond oil for $7; 1lb of shea butter for $8-16 depending on if it is West of East African shea. What I buy for my hair lasts easily for 3-6 months. I wouldn't call that high end.
Oh well that's good to know! Do you have the link to the shops that you get the oils from? I would love to try some :] I wish there was a Trader Joes where I'm located but unfortunately there isn't. :[
I was natural for years and I used lots of oil mixes like the ladies were mentioning before. My hair gets weighed down by grease but I preferred a mixture of glycerin, Jamaica black Castro oil jaobba oil,and grape seed oil. The products do last a long time. I would put them into a spray bottle and applied when needed. My hair growth was tremendous & my hair stayed very moisturized ! Good luck on you journey!(:
I love argan oil because it has tons of benefits and it’s super light on my hair, not greasy. I use Pro Naturals Moroccan Argan Oil hair treatment and my hair is shinier, stronger, healthier and longer :)

I love Jamaican castor oil, but it's not easy to find, but plain 'ole castor oil is thicker. Sweet Almond or Jojoba is not too runny either.

Thank you so much! Would you say that the Castor Oil oil mosturizer by B&B works or is as good as being close to pure castor oil?

Try Castor Oil from Hollywood Beauty. It contains the Castor Oil as well as Mink, & Jojoba Oil. :]

Here is a link from an earlier 'curly' thread. The subject is for bi-racial hair, but curls are curls and the info is useful.
