You need to use a really dry shampoo to elongate the greasy oil. Try Head and Shoulders shampoo in original. The fragrance oils in the ones other than original will just add to the oil, so stick to something dry. It won't work like magic the first time, so you'll need to shampoo twice the first day and use it once daily the rest of the time you decide to use it. After you're satisfied and the grease is no longer in your hair, condition, condition, condition! Good luck!

I have heard about using dishing washing soap/liquid to wash out castor oil but would not recommend it as it can be damaging...I use a clarifying shampoo like Garnier Fructis Pure Clean Fortifying Shampoo to wash out excess oil...It will remove the oil without drying out...Castor oil is very thick and sticky in consistency so you can try mixing it with coconut oil in a 2:1 proportion so that you can wash it out more easily...If you do end up using dish washing liquid make sure you deep condition afterwards with something like the Aussie 3 minute miracle.

Try not to use to much aswell a little goes a long way. I use anti dandruff shampoo for dry hair to ensure it is removed but doesn't dry out my hair then a follow with a deep condition. I tend to put it on my finger tips and massage into my scalp. And for me I have had great results.

Massage shampoo into your roots before you wet it.

A apple cider vinegar rinse works wonders and you might be using to much castor oil.

Use a shampoo base, instead of regular shampoo.
