So I have this problem that anytime I take off my mascara a ton of eyelashes come off as well! I'm losing so many that parts of my lashes are starting to look bare. What are some homemade tricks to get longer and fuller lashes? And also does Vaseline actually work?

Vaseline doesn't actually work. The only FDA approved method to lengthen your lashes is Latisse, which works by prolonging the growth period of your lashes (the eyelash growth cycle has three stages, growth, stasis and falling out). If you stop using it, your lashes will revert to normal. Oils or vaseline of any kind do not, and will never, work, and can often be outright dangerous to have near your eyes. They can clog the cuticles of your lashes, causing styes, cysts and infections. Always be extremely careful with anything you may be putting near your eyes.

Definitely wouldn't recommend Vaseline. I out a thin coat on every night for a few weeks and I got a stye on my lower lash line. Not cute at all. 😂

I put a drop of lavender essential oil in each tube of mascara! Latisse works wonders!

Vaseline doesn't work and I wouldn't recommend putting it anywhere near your lashes. I've heard good things about Latisse but I personally wouldn't use it just because I don't like the idea of it.
You could always try lash extensions

You should definitely try castor oil, it helped me a lot

I think the number 1 thing you can do about your problem is not primarily finding a product to make your lashes longer but finding a product to NOT pull out your lashes when removing your eye makeup. Addressing the source of the problem should come first, THEN addressing get the symptoms afterwards. What's the sense of making your lashes longer if you're going to just keep pulling them out. I recommend Lance Bi-Facil Waterproof eye makeup remover, ALMAY Moisterizing Eye Makeup Remo er pads (waterproof version) or the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water (blue water version not the pink one). Waterproof removing cleansers will remove tough eye makeup more effectively with less tugging. Sure, they may leave a little oily residue, but you can go in with another cleanser to cleanse the rest of your face and wash off the eye makeup remover residue. There are mascaras on the market that have conditioning ingredients in them and if you can lay off lash curling for awhile, that will help. Also conditioning your lashes at night with a little coconut oil will keep them soft and supple and thus help them get stronger.

Here's something I wrote ages ago as I no longer have it saved in my notes :))

Actually, Brittany, Latisse isn't the only product that works, but it is the only one approved by the FDA. It also has the shortest wait time before results are shown, since it contains more of the active ingredient than any other product currently on the market (for example, RevitaLash).

Of course, there are certainly other Bimatoprost based products on the market, but due to the less concentrated amount, they take longer to work, and who wants to wait longer when you can go to a doctor and get a Latisse prescription that will lengthen your lashes in two months or so, rather than six months, eight months, or even a year. Latisse has clinical trials that prove its efficacy over the course of 16 weeks, with measurable improvements (25% longer lashes, 106% fuller lashes, etc.) whereas the competitors don't have such intensive research to back them up, and their efficacy can't be proven to be at the same level as Latisse.

Oils, again, are not necessarily safe for the eye area and if you do use one I'd suggest double cleansing to get the residue off and keep it out of your eyes, since it can cause greater problems than just losing your lashes.

Yes that wasn't necessarily saying that you were wrong, it was written a while ago! I'm aware it's a higher concentration but in personal experience I usually find it means that it takes more time BUT with less side effects! Just something for people to consider and make informed decisions on their own! I always also encourage people to branch off and do their own research as well when it comes to products around the eyes- they're such sensitive and useful things and we only get one pair

Right you are, and since my eyes are so bad to begin with I always strive to be very careful with them, and I hope to make sure other people do the same =)

Definitely, I always cringe when I see people recommend Vaseline :( I can't imagine my vision being any worse than it is LOL, curse those who always take chances with their eyes but can actually drive in the dark 😂 I'm so gentle with mine but I've got nothing to show for it 😜

I would not recommend Vaseline. Applying olive at before bedtime is beneficial for your eyelashes. The lashes will soak up the minerals and vitamins olive oil has. I hope this helps! ;)

Mix coconut oil Vaseline and peppermint oil in a small cup, put in the microwave to melt the oils together then apply to your lashes every night before bed.
