Hi everyone! I would appreciate your help as I have been researching this for a while and still couldn't find all the answers to my questions.

I want a pale golden powder highlighter with no glitter that can be used for a natural effect on most days but also built up for a more glamorous look.
I am very specific (hopefully not unrealistic) because I don't see the point of more than one highlighter in my collection. I am okay with paying more, as long as the product is genuinely "flawless"(ok, I won't that unrealistic... "exquisite" is enough 😁).

I am interested in Moonstone from Becca and Candlelight from Kevyn Aucoin in the powder formula.

What I know so far:
- Candlelight is significantly more expensive (is it worth it?).
- Becca highlighters are intense, but I assume that I could just use a small amount. That would also make them even cheaper in comparison to Kevyn Aucoin highlighters.
- Many people claim that both are very smooth. I couldn't detect any glitter particles in the photos that I've found so far but I need to know it from someone who sees the product irl and has been using it for a while.
- Becca is creamy and can shatter easily.

If you have them (or at least one):

1. Any visible glitter particles? How natural and generally flattering do they look?
2. Lasting power (I get quite oily in the summer and I generally want my makeup to last 10 h+)?
3. Texture (creamy/stiff, powdery)?
4. Does either enhance imperfections on the skin (dry patches, tiny bumps etc.)?
5. Any other powder highlighter you would recommend instead?

For reference:
- I have pale skin with yellow undertones, usually lighter than NC15 in MAC (except for the pro longwear nourishing waterproof foundation).
- I found the following highlighters too "chunky" (I understand why many people like them, but I want absolutely no glitter):
MAC MSF #lightscapade
TheBalm #mary-lou manizer
ABH Glow kit #that glow - sunburst
MAC cream color base #pearl (subtle glitter, but still glitter)
Nars #Albatross.

Thanks! 😘

Between the Becca and Kevyn Aucoin... As someone who owns both highlighters - I find the difference between the two is that the Becca highlighter basically looks like a highlighter, I don't consider subtle.. It might look nicely applied and you can apply very little but people will know you have on a highlighter. Even on 'no make up - make up' looks people create you can pretty much still tell.
The Kevyn highlighter looks like a soft, diffused wash of light. When I see BECCA I think more Instagram/YouTube highlight and Kevyn Aucoins more so the wash of highlight you see on models on runways.
I favor my Kevyn Aucoin highlighter more than BECCA... I just am in love with how soft and elegant it looks. I have applied it freely all over my face before where as with Becca you have to control how you apply it or you look like a disco ball.
This MUA in this video uses KA a lot for highlighting so you can get the idea of what I mean

I agree with kitty. If you want more of the natural, ethereal glow, I would go with Kevyn aucoin. Plus it's easier to use since it's subtle.

I am a fan of absolutely no visible glitter on my face so I totally understand.

Definitely listen to Kitty's advice, you can't go wrong. ^_^ I personally have never tried the KA one so I can't say much about it... Except that I yearn for it!

I only swatched the becca in store and personally I thought it was too chunky for my liking. I don't understand what the hype is about, I could see the shimmer particles.
One I really liked was the hourglass ambient lighting, but I couldn't afford it at that moment so I'll end up buying it next time I'm in the US. What I liked about it was how soft-focus it made my skin look, but you should definitely check it out in store because it may be a bit too understated for some people.

Just an alternative if you don't necessarily have to choose between becca and KA.

Another thing that I am still putting out there is that the most natural looking highlighters I have are liquid illuminating primers/multitaskers. (Mac strobe cream, nars pro prime radiance enhancing primer). Maybe for the winter? :D

I have swatched Becca highlighters and they aren't for me. I do own Kevyn's, so I can answer your specific questions:

1. Any visible glitter particles? How natural and generally flattering do they look?

No visible glitter particles in Kevyn's. It delivers a true sheen of a finish. It is not sparkley, shimmery, or glittery.

2. 2. Lasting power (I get quite oily in the summer and I generally want my makeup to last 10 h+)?

You get oily and you want to make your makeup last more than 10 hours in the summer? Good luck. In my opinion, That's a tad bit unrealistic with oily skin, powder and heat. You can prolong the wear a good deal by properly prepping your skin and using a fixative spray. Overall, this powder does have an excellent wear time. I've only ever had to touch it up after about 7 to 8 hours worth of wear. What I do like when it fades a bit is that it doesn't disappear, so when you do touch it up, only a minimal amount is required.

3. Texture (creamy/stiff, powdery)?

Kevyn's powder has a soft silky texture.

4. Does either enhance imperfections on the skin (dry patches, tiny bumps etc.)?

Most any powder can enhance skin imperfections: Dry patches, texture issues, etc. etc. The key is keeping the application minimal, and tread lightly when applying a highlighting product to any area that you don't want to draw too much attention to. That aside, this powder because of the mill is very easy to blend and shouldn't emphasize skin imperfections if used in moderation in relation to any area(s) of concern.

Any other powder highlighter you would recommend instead?

My favorite highlighter after Kevyn's isn't made anymore :( Dior's Poudre Shimmer in Amber Diamond. I like to use Hourglass Ambient powders as highlighters as well. My favorites are Radiant light and Incandescent light.

I have attached a photo so you can see Kevyn's Candlelight Glow. The photo on the top is the Candlelight Glow hit with a flash; the bottom is a photo of the powder in direct sunlight. I'm sporting a bit of tan right now, so I had to build the Candlelight powder up a bit more so you could see the effect. It's an absolutely gorgeous highlight powder, and in my opinion, it's well worth the money.

I agree with the ladies above. I don't own the KA, but I have swatched Becca's, and if you found the ABH too chunky for you, I think you will find Becca's too chunky as well. My ABH highlighting powder is more finely milled that the Becca ones - at least it seemed that way from swatching. I owned Becca Pearl, and I was super excited for the release but actually ended up returning it because I thought it looked very glittery on the skin. Granted, my ABH is one of her single highlighters and not one from a glow kit, so maybe that makes a difference. And maybe Becca Pearl isn't as smooth as the others. I bought it as soon as it came out, so maybe the formula still needed some tweaks.

Either way, I think the KA is far more suited to the desires you mentioned. As Breeze brought up, the Hourglass Ambient powders might be something to look into as well. They're more of a setting powder than a super intense highlighter, but they cast such a beautiful glow over the skin.

I can't vouch for the KA or Becca highlighters; however, I love my KA's sculpting powder. I am absolutely in love with my Hourglass LE lighting palette. At 47, I don't like looking like I'm trying too hard and it was the best investment for me-- subtle, glowy, ethereal.
