Hello :) today I went to MAC and looked for the pro Longwear concealer. The woman who worked there tried out NC15 and NW15 on my face and we thought that NW15 would look better. The problem is: I already put concealer on that morning so I'm not quite sure about the coverage. Do you like that concealer? Do you think it has great coverage? I'm not suuuure if I should buy it or not haha.

It was good coverage for a while but after a little bit the coverage didn't seem the same to me. Also I had a problem with mine starting to smell bad after only having it for a little while.

I'm a NC 15!! Haha. I bought it when I got my makeup done there once and used it everyday after that but then I discovered the Maybelline fit me and nyx HD concealer and honestly I probably won't be buying the MAC again. Idk nothing was special to me that made it worth the $20. It has great coverage for acne marks definitely but I have no need for that anymore so I won't be buying it again.

It works pretty good. Do I think it's the best concealer ever? No.

The coverage is pretty good but it's not the best. This is coming from someone that usually uses more cream concealer rather than liquid.
As far as the "pro longwear" claims, I do thing it lasts pretty well, coming from someone with oily skin. I don't have to use much powder to set + prevent it from creasing.
I feel like I HAD to set it because it has a slight sticky feel.
Medium-build-able coverage.

The NYX one dries down better than the pro longwear, it's not as pigmented, not as much shades but it did layer nicely and didn't get cakey looking but I don't believe it's "HD" cause it gave bad flashback.

If you want fuller coverage than try the Studio Finish concealer, if you want something that looks more skin-like and natural with a medium, buildable coverage try the Select Cover-Up which the NYX one s similar to but the Select Cover-up will last a while.

It's a decent concealer but I personally don't think it's worth the hype. It covers amazing but I always found it end up looking dry and age my under eye area by the end of the day, and I have combo skin.

My HG concealer is the Maybelline Fit Me.

I find it too thick and heavy for my face I don't like how it feels😂 I prefer concealer with a thinner consistency

My sister, whose skin is between normal to combo, is a MAC junkie and loves the Pro Longwear concealer - it's all that she uses under her eyes plus for small blemishes. Surprisingly, my oily skin just didn't agree with it + I didn't like the bottle pump mechanism (too much product comes out). I thought with my oily skin it would suit my skin better than my sister's but nope, just like what Beth experienced, it was too drying and aging on me.

My sister does use a primer beforehand and when I tried the concealer, wasn't using any primer at that stage.

I think it also depends on how well a MAC MUA listens to the customer's needs plus takes effort to show various application techniques. My sister was shown this "to-and-fro" blending technique between using the concealer with a colour corrector. It works for her  :)

Thanks for your opinion Samina :) and I may be stupid right now but I have to ask..what do you mean by "to-and-fro blending technique"? :D

No such thing as a stupid question and apologies, I should've explained it previously 🙈

I think most of us applies a corrector first, blends it into the skin to neutralize the dark area then applies the concealer on top and blends that over the corrector.

I watched the MAC MUA take the corrector (she used a MAC Studio Finish Skin Corrector), place it on the back of her hand and also placed some of the Pro Longwear Concealer next to it (you could place both products side-by-side on a Paw Palette instead). She then proceeded to first dab a smidgen, tiny amount of corrector under my sister's eyes with a MAC 217 brush. Then dipped the brush into the concealer, but also took just a teeny tiny amount. Applied that. Then dipped the brush back into the corrector again but instead of applying that immediately, she took a little bit of concealer as well with the brush, blended both the corrector and concealer together on the back of her hand then applied the blend-mix to under my sister's eyes again. She then repeated the blend-mix process again, probably another 2 or 3 times. Hence I describe it "to-and-fro" or you can also say "back-and-forth", but you get the idea?

She didn't mix both corrector + concealer all in one go from the beginning and simply apply a single layer of a blend-mix. She would assess the undereye after applying each thin blend-mix layer, then either took a little more corrector into the next blend-mix or a bit more concealer.

The end result was a totally neutralized + flawlessly concealed undereye. It looked so natural, I was very impressed with my sister's final look!

The MUA said that sometimes one puts on too much or too little corrector in one go and the same applies with the concealer - too much or too little. So you end up with either the peach/orange corrector showing through the concealer or the under eye darkness simply "lightened" by the concealer but the darkness is still visible. Or there's too much product under the eye which creases and ages you.

By blending tiny amounts in layers, you assess between each application how the neutralizing and concealing is coming along, prevent product overload + adjust if a bit more correction is needed in the blend-mix or concealer product.

Hope it makes sense? It sounds cumbersome but watching the MAC MUA transform my sister's under eyes was pretty cool!

Personally, I'm always rushing for work so haven't bothered to try this blending "back-and-forth/to-and-fro" technique in the mornings. I'll have a go when I have more time.

My sister is hooked on this technique + her face looks flawless (she colour corrects + conceals with the Pro Longwear under the eyes and uses the same concealer by itself on her remaining facial blemishes, then sets with a very light dusting of MAC Studio Fix powder). PLUS ... she's still trying to convert me over to the Pro Longwear ;)

Try get some samples of the Pro Longwear from a MAC counter to take home then decide if it works or not.

Have fun concealer hunting!  :)
