So I've had pretty awful acne for a while now, and it seems that no matter how I try to treat it, it never goes away. I know I should go see a dermatologist but in the meantime, I'd really like some tips. Currently I'm using a Mia 2 and it worked for a while but now my skin is awful again. And recently I've developed a deep forehead wrinkle that I don't know how to get rid of, and I'm only 17 😲 I'm in desperate need of tips and advice. I'll attach some pictures so you can see what I'm dealing with. Thanks so much.

This is my forehead wrinkle. Sort of hard to see, but it's creased into my skin and shows through makeup.

I might not be much of a help but I know many girls here on beautylish take birth control to help with acne and I've heard succesful results!
I personally rely on thr clean and clear advanced acne treatment (the little tube for spot treatment), and it really helps.

The forehead wrinkle is probably due to expression and raising the eyebrows. Not much to do other than identify what facial expression causes this and when you do it the most (ik a lot of people make forehead wrinkles when they do their under eye concealer or bottom lashes) and try not to make it so often before it becomes permanent and more prominant:(

The only thing that has worked for my acne is Accutane. You should definitely talk to your dermatologist about it first, but all I can say is that I'm almost a month in and my skin hasn't looked this clear in years.

I had similar acne on my forehead and it was driving me nuts so I gave in and went to see my derm. He told me to wash my face with Cetaphil (the bar) and after a week, my face really cleared up!

May I ask why you are putting off seeing a Derm? I know this is truly difficult, but you risk scarring and cause yourself undue pain and discomfort, even on an emotional level when you put off seeking medical care.

I'd make an appointment with a Derm as soon as possible.
Until then, I suggest drinking Green Tea, using an all cotton pillowcase changed every 3rd day and stop using any products that contain perfumes or scents, as well as drying alcohols, such as denatured alcohol. Scents are often irritating and can flare up acne.
Look for a moisturizer, such as CeraVe PM, that has Niacinamide in it. This will help calm your skin and reduce inflammation. I'd splash my face with a rinse made from steeping 2 Green Tea bags in a cup of water. This helps kill surface bacteria and calm your skin. Pulling back on high hormonal foods such as meats and dairy is often helpful as well. I'd wash with Cetaphil or CeraVe cleanser and avoid any exfoliation until you see the doctor. An alcohol free toner that is not scented (Thayers is inexpensive, but I'd avoid the scented varieties) should be sure you are getting skin clean without irritation. Put the MIa aside for now.

You can go to the Clinique counter and get a sample of their foundation that's color matched and will address your current needs. When you are home, let your skin breathe and take a break from cosmetics...pulling your hair up and away from your face. Best of luck to you.

I book mine weeks..sometimes months in advance because she is so busy. The important thing is that you get booked. That's the 1st step to wellness.

I'm 47 and have had acne on and off since I was 10. It was never bad, but because I'm biracial, East Indian/Irish, I scar quite easily, and I have some deep ice pick scars. My father is an MD, cardiologist, so we had a very healthy diet growing up, we ate clean back in the 80's lol. I will give you all my tips from my numerous MD's that you can check with your MD, and some inexpensive home stuff you can do or buy from Beautylish!
Antibiotics: Minocin or Tetracycline are both excellent for acne, plus topical cream such as Differin -- all prescription so ask your MD for more information.
Change your pillowcase nightly if you can, or every other night, try to do the same with all your towels. Less chance of anything breeding=clearer skin.
Light chemical peel--- either glycolics, which you can just have done at a spa, or a more intense Jessner, which is excellent for acne, and should be done by a dermatologist or plastic surgeon's office. About 150.00?
Very basic neutral cleansers as others mentioned: Cethaphil, Spectro Gel, the BioDerma line that Beautylish sells -->sebum is great. Invest in a proper blackhead extractor if you are a squeezer, less chance of scarring. I never tried the pill to help my skin because I didn't want to put on weight, so I can't help you there, and Accutane made my joints hurt so bad within one week that I had to go off it, and I have an extremely high pain tolerance so, that was not fun. Good luck, and I hope something helps.

Try putting garlic or apple cider vinegar.

Never put garlic or cider vinegar! I suggest when washing your face steam your face with a hot wash cloth and then wash your face
