Contour is highlighting and making shadows on your face to give it a more slim or symmetrical look, you apply highlighter where the sun naturally hits your face and contour (darker than your skintone shade ) where there is shadow on your face and you blend... I hope I explain for you to understand... you can look on YouTube for a better understanding

Contour is highlighting and adding shadows to your face to give you the appearance of a slimmer face.
Highlight: down the bridge of your nose, highest point of your cheekbones, on your chin, under your brows and on your Cupid's bow.
Darker shades: under your cheekbones, temples and down the sides of your nose (if you want a slimmer looking nose)
it's hard to explain but search it up on youtube because there's great tutorials on there. hope I helped :)

I'm not really sure how to explain it...

When you contour you’re aiming to manipulate the face by creating shadows, for example: when contouring your cheeks, you want to suck in, and follow the path of your jawline− by adding that shadow, it gives the effect of chiseled cheeks. When contouring the nose, you’re adding that shadow to give your nose a slimmer appearance.

When highlighting my face, I only highlight the ‘high’ points, and areas I want to bring forward. Some people will highlight differently, for example: If your forehead is larger, you’ll avoid highlighting that area, and instead contour.

Everyone's faces are different, you have to experiment and see what works best for you, personally!
