Ugh, so I went to get my hair done yesterday. I have gradually been trying to go back closer to my natural hair color of really dark brown from medium brown/blonde highlights for years that had damaged my hair. I was in 6 mos ago and she made it too dark, but the highlighted hair faded to a great shade I loved. It lasted a while, but I noticed a few grays so wanted to have my roots done. I stressed I did not want my hair super dark and all highlights to be covered. I'm very pale and it washes me out even more. She put dye at my roots and in sections of my hair.
It is now basically black and all my highlights are covered. I wanted more subtle dark brown highlights. How can I get this to fade? I have washed it several times already. Would it be damaging to go somewhere else to have highlights added this week? This is the 2nd time she has made it way too dark so I'm not going back.

Head and shoulders strips color a little more quickly than regular shampoo! There are also boxes in the DYe aisle you can use to "reverse" the dye job. Idk how accurate they are. I think they're called color oops- I do think the dark looks great on you though!

I think you look gorgeous with the darker hair. However, I know the disappointment of losing highlights due to touch ups. A few highlights won't be too damaging-but your hair looks great on you now!

I have to be totally honest, I think the darker hair actually makes you look younger.

Wow, thanks everyone! I'm surprised (shocked really) everyone thinks the darker looks better. It's still hard to get used to. Maybe I'll try to give it a shot for a few weeks before getting more highlights. Thanks for the feedback!!
