After battling many many years with a terrible nail biting habit - 23 years- I seem to have finally kicked the habit without having to get Acrylic or gel nails. Unfortunately my natural nails, seem to be extremely thin. They aren't brittle at all but rather they are very sharp and thin. Causing them to catch on clothing and rip easily. They look healthy due to all the care I've been taking to try and keep them healthy and growing but they still seem to be super thin. Anything I can do to strengthen them to grow thicker?

I know Essie and maybe Sally Hansen make a nail strengthener which goes on like a clear polish. Also you could try the hair and nails vitamins, or incorporate more protein into your diet.

I use OPI Nail Envy and helped when my nails were peeling, although they've never been as bad as you describe. Still might help you since they have one special for each type of nail problem.

Also since they are that thin you might want to get them checked and they will probably prescribe you something that will fix the for good.

My nails got a lot healthier after I stopped painting them. I usually have bare nails now, which kind of sucks, but my nails have never been healthier than they are now.

Take a biotin supplement. It WILL make your nails grow extremely fast, but also thicker.
