So my last haircut was about two months ago but I want to let my layers grow out and get them done once my hair is at its desired length. I know staying away from heat products etc. helps but I was wondering if you guys had any tips. Thanks!  ☺️

Information regarding hair growth -

Genetics and healthiness of hair

Your hair growth rate and type is down to your genetics. There is no way to grow your hair faster apart from keeping it healthy. Hair masks and deep conditioners can keep your hair healthy and making sure you cut off split ends (otherwise they go further up the hair shaft and cause breakage), Cutting off hair which doesn't have split ends to make it grow faster is pointless as you are cutting off hair which could still grow. A trim every 6-8 weeks is sufficient, however it is better to ask your hairdresser for a 'healthy trim'.
Drinking lots of water keeps your hair healthy.
Try to use less heat on your hair as this will dry your hair out. Don't brush your hair when wet as this can lead to breakage. Another factor of breakage is putting your hair in a bun or ponytail too tightly. Instead, try braiding or wrapping your hair into a headscarf or bandana as it is less likely to damage your hair.

Shampoos, conditioners and hair treatments

Shampoos and conditioners that say they mend split ends are a complete con, there is absolutely no ways to mend split ends. Cutting them off is the only option.
Similarly, shampoos and conditioners such as Mane and Tail are not good for human hair as they are not the correct pH level for us. The belief that they make your hair grow faster is a buildup of wax which causes your hair to be heavier. This leads to your believing that your hair is longer. Using Mane and Tail can cause brittleness which can lead to breakage. In the short term, you may think it is good for your hair. In the long term however, it is not.
You should also try to use sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners. This include ingredients such as Sodium Laurel Sulfate and Sodium Laureth Sulfate.

Biotin, Hairfinity and other hair growth pills and vitamins

Biotin and other hair growth pills should NOT be taken unless you have a Biotin deficiency. This deficiency is diagnosed by a doctor. If you take Biotin when you don't have a deficiency, it can lead to acne, sickness, hospilitisation and even death. A member of Beautylish has had personal experience with this, when a member of her family became ill after taking Biotin. You should be eating enough Biotin-rich foods to not have a deficiency, these include almonds, walnuts, chickens eggs, milk, onions, cucumbers and carrots.
Do NOT take extra vitamins unless diagnosed by a doctor. Otherwise, it can cause another vitamin level in your body to decrease, resulting in the same problems as taking excess Biotin.

Hair thickening or thinning

Your hair type is also genetic. You can make your hair SEEM thicker or thinner (for example having layers put in to increase thickness look). Treatments, shampoos and conditioners which deem to thicken or thin hair are a lie. They can make it appear thicker or thinner, but cannot make it thicker or thinner.

There's no miracle product or technique to make hair grow faster as hair growth is based on genetics, however there are things you can do to help promote hair growth.

-use sulphate free shampoos
-use a hair mask at least once a week
-never brush hair when wet
-use as little heat as possible
-use a heat protectant when you do use heat
-get regular trims
-make sure your ponytails/buns aren't too tight
-drink plenty of water and keep yourself healthy as well

Please do NOT take any kinds of pills, including Biotin, Hairfinity, or any other hair, skin, and nail pills, unless you consult a doctor first. Taking supplements without a deficiency can cause serious health problems.

Hair Growth:

Hair growth is completely based off genetics. There is no miracle product that will make your hair grow faster. The most you can do is make sure your hair is really healthy so it can grow to its fullest potential.

Healthy hair tips and tricks:
1.) don't wash your hair everyday. this will strip the hair from its natural oils which will result in dry, frizzy, hard to manage hair. I recommend washing the hair at minimum every 2-3 days. this will give your hair time to restore your hair which will make it healthier and more manageable.
2.) use sulfate free shampoos and conditioners. I recommend the loreal "ever" line. it's affordable and found at walmart, target, etc.
3.) don't brush your hair while it's wet. this will cause breakage and split ends. if you must brush your hair, use a wet brush or a wide tooth comb for minimal damage.
4.) say goodbye to your heat styling tools and hello to heatless hairstyles. my favorites are heatless curls, braids, and buns. you could always look some up on youtube though (:
5.) in between washes, use a dry shampoo and leave in conditioner. this will make your hair appear less oily so you can go about your day without feeling completely disgusting. I also like wearing my hair in a messy bun in between washes because it makes my oily mess less noticeable lol.
6.) use hot oil treatments/hair masks at least once a week. they will keep your hair strong and healthy.
7.) don't use elastics with the metal piece. it KILLS your hair. it will cause damage and breakage over time. with this being said, avoid tight ponytails or hairstyles. that will make your hair weak at one spot and it will eventually give up and split.
8.) try to sleep with silk pillowcases. cotton ones over time with you tossing and turning will break the hair and cause split ends. you could also put your hair in a loose hairstyle to prevent damage.

I use coconut oil from trader joes and it really helps! It's a mask. I'll be doing a YouTube video on it soon :) https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSi6rapStY8Y0ZQ5XF0N8sA.

Make sure you comb your hair out on the ends mostly because it helps them stay healthy longer😊

I must be the exception to the rule. Mane and Tail shampoo and conditioner works great for me. I take biotin with no breakouts and never went to a doctor about it. I do drink tons of water though. I also take a multivitamin everyday along with Omega 3. Everything else I do according to the other suggestions by the BL beauties; sleep on satin pillowcase, wash my hair every 4 days, wrap my hair up at night, only heat I use is a blow dryer, use a leave in conditioner, and use hair masks. Oh, and my hair is relaxed.
