So, friends! I went out and bought several L'Oreal infallible eyeshadows, a Maybelline 24 hr color tattoo shadow, and two Urban Decay shadows. All singles!

The problem? I don't know what the heck I'm doing...do I blend them together to create a good look? How in the world do I know what colors look good together? I have blue eyes, but I don't know much else.

Ideally, I'd like to be able to just wear one color at a time. A one and done kind of thing. But can you do that? I feel like everyone wears two or more at a time. I just don't know how to do that.

So my main question: can I wear just one eyeshadow a time to create a cool look, with liner and mascara? If not, how do I know what color to blend with what? Please help me! Should I be buying eyeshadow palettes, like the Naked ones?

How do you normally wear your eyeliner?

I would check out eyeshadow looks for blue eyes on YouTube and buy some brushes, I recommend real techniques and ecotools for a beginner.

You sure can just swipe one colour over your lid and be done! I do that whenever I can't be bothered or don't have time, I have blue eyes and love just adding a shimmery champagne colour on the lid, or sometimes a light brown. Sometimes I even just put a shimmery brown colour along the end of the upper lash line, which elongates my eye, and create a smokey effect with liner, us compliments blue eyes.
I don't own the naked palettes, I only use drugstore shadows that I find and like!
Colours that I find bring out my blue eyes are shimmery colours, gold, champagne, copper, burgundy, black, warm tones browns and even subtle light pink! :)

Thank you so much!! That's great. I definitely favor those colors in my eyeshadow collections. Do you have any drugstore palettes or brands you'd recommend?

I love the Nudes palette by Models Prefer (they have two, I like the one with browns/neutral shades) - it has 10 shades for $12 :)
I also like one of Rimmels small eyeshadow palettes (I will attach a photo of it as I'm not sure what it's called, I find it has the perfect shades for blue eyes and I use it for everyday looks and dramatic looks).
I also love Nyx's roll on shimmer eyeshadows!

Which eyeshadows did you pick up exactly, Jessica? That way we can help you a bit more :)

What makes blue eyes "pop" is anything that has a tinge of orange to it, like copper eyeshadow!
Basically any color is going to stand out when put next to the opposite one on the color wheel :)

I've been using makeup for years and I love the idea of a swipe of one colour. A lot of the time I use a white eyeshadow all across my lid and then use black eyeliner to line my upper lashline, I think the contrast looks amazing

Sure you can absolutely use one color. That's how we started out in makeup academy. Just make sure you pack it in your kid and then blend it up so there's no harsh line anywhere on your lid. You can definitely graduate from there by watching YouTube videos and such. You're going to love the journey!

Try to get to grips with different tones of shadow and different textures. Cool toned shades usually have a gray/blue tone to them, whereas warn shades tend to have more of a golden/coppery tone. Like, a good example would be that Porcelain is generally cool toned whereas Ivory is normally more yellow-ish. If you pick a shadow and want to blend another with it, make sure it's the same undertone!! Check online for shade guides, it's also worth figuring out your skin's undertone so you can find colours that really flatter you. Brown shadow really makes blue eyes pop, though!
