Hey all, I'm looking for eyeshadows for hooded eyes, because I was told to use matte eyeshadow, but where I live it's not easy to come by, thanks everyone.

I'm pretty sure you can use any eyeshadow its just the technique in which you apply it. you should ask Alexis because she has hooded eyes too and she might be able to help.

Here I come to save the day! Lol. I do have hooded eyes and really it's all about trial and error and experimenting with shadow placement to see what works and what doesn't with how hooded your eye is (: with your eyes definitely try blending outwards rather than upwards, if that makes sense. Also using matte shadows is technically what you're supposed to use because shimmer shadows catch the light and can exaggerate the hood of your eye even more but I still use shimmer shadows, just use a matte color in the crease/on the hood (depending on the shadow placement) and you'll be fine (:

Hi Aileen, I have hooded eyes as well.

It is recommended to use matte shadows because it doesn't accentuate the hood on the lid. Shimmer eyeshadow will make it more pronounced. Some of us hooded folks can't see our crease for crap because of the hood. Your eyes are like mine almost. I have a couple pictures with different makeup styles. It is also recommended to blend the shadow past the fold of the hood. I personally don't like doing that so I just apply my transition colors there.

I've used shimmer on the lids but it's never a light color like a beige because I feel like it will make my eyes look puffy all together, so when I use shimmer it's usually a darker color or when I do cut creases.
