I wear a primer and have a good skincare routine. I have also tried using my regular powder and not using it to see if that helps.
I've tried using fingers a brush and for some reason whatever foundation I put on my skin it separates on my forehead and top lip it's driving me mad!
Can anyone help?

Can you list the specific products you're using?

I have struggled with this problem too... no matter what I do my foundation would always separate and I have several suggestions for you :
1. MOSITURIZE! your skin can always use a bit of hydration, especially if you wear a matte foundation
2. If you are looking for an amazing powder , try Laura Mercier powder , I love it Bc I have combination skin and it keeps my oily spots dry but does not cling to my dry spots either
3. Maybe switch to your foundation? Maybe get a new foundation brush if your other one was dirty
My above suggestions might help but I know my last suggestion will for sure help you : Sephora recently came out with a line of face masks sold exclusively by them and I will tell you they work wonders! I have only tried the Pearl mask which is meant to hydrate and brighten skin and the day after I used it, my foundation lasted about 9-10 hours while still being PERFECTLY in tact which never happens to me.. in usually lucky if I can get six hours and I couldn't find any solutions until I came across that Pearl face mask. Sephora has 6 different masks I believe and you just choose the one which correlates to your skin type. They're $6 each and I really think they're worth a try! Good luck, hope I helped! (The face mask is cloth btw and you just leave it on for 15 min)

P.S. I would also like to add that I've tried many face masks before and haven't ever found one that delivers much results until now

What primer do you use?
I use the smashbox photo finish and pore minimizing primer and my foundation doesn't separate.
