Hey everyone! So I've never done anything to my hair, it's blonde and super thick, and I'm ready for a change. I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to cut it all off, but I am looking for a temporary way to color portions or sections of my hair. I know about hair chalk, I'm just afraid the application would break my hair... Not sure. Is there a certain brand of hair chalk you guys like? Do you guys know of any other way to temporarily color my hair?

You could use a semi permanent hair dye that will fade out after a few washes or even Kool aid.

Kool aid stains the hair & dries it out... would NOT recommend lol

Thanks girls, so Kool aid is out? Hehe not crazy about the use of actual hair dye, I really really don't want to alter the color of my hair.

Do you recommend hair chalks at all??

Definitely no Kool aid. A little girl I used to baby sit in the summer wanted me to do her hair like mine, so I asked her mom and she said sure. As long as it didn't cost her. So I looked up ways without dye. Kool-aid came up tons. I did it with red, blue and purple Kool-aid dip dying her whole head. That was like June, quite a few years ago, and it wasn't till she cut her hair into a Bob that it was gone. She was in elementary when I did it, and Jr high when she cut it. It was also very dry, her little girl soft blonde hair looked more damaged than when people bleach their hair every week. It turned her fine hair into coarse damaged lion hair on the ends loll.

And
Hair Chalk can be fun, but it can stain for a few washes. My sister let me do her whole head while she was blonde on a Friday, and when she had to go to work on Monday it was still pretty there. But it did wash out within the week or so, but it was a lot of shampoo so it dried her hair out. Though if you don't need to get it out I don't think it'd damage your hair any more than curling it once would. But itd definitely depend on the application. If you gently go downwards rather than going upwards like most companies suggest you'll get little to no damage.

Semi permanent hair dyes are nice, but they always have the possibility to stain. It'd less likely if you're hair isn't bleached. But they can be hit or miss and it depends on your hair type. You'd have to find the brand and color that works best for you. For example, I find manic panic reds and purples on my hair fade super quick, but the greens and cool colors I can get months and months out of. Where as special effects dye I find almost the opposite. The pinks, reds, purples etc.last much longer on my hair. Special effects lasts longer on my hair in general, the (what I like to call "non sticky") dyes that don't last long still last me 2-3 months before it fades to pastel. And I find directions and ion washes out within a few weeks on me, but on some it lasts like special effects on their hair. Unfortunately it's really all trial and error with semi permanent dyes.
