Blue Hair Care?

My manager approved my blue ombré! I'll probably get it done sometime after my vacation (don't have the money to get it done before) but I want to have an idea of how to care for it and have time to get the products I'll need.

The only unnatural hair color I've had was purple and I just let that fade, I didn't keep up with it at all, so I have no idea how to properly care for an unnatural hair color.

When I went to the salon today to get an estimate the stylist said the blue will need to be reglazed every 2-3 weeks so I definitely want to be able to extend the time between touch ups as long as possible.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Keep the colour from getting brassy will definitely help! I got my hair coloured and I used hair oil or serums specified to my hair type. I loved the Fekkai technician colour care glaze and the bamboo colour care UV+. I hope this helps!

Get some conditioner and add a blue dye to it. That will keep it fresh looking :)

Cold water. Or cool. But warm or warmer will pull color right out. Utilize the crap out of dry shampoo.

And if I'm not mistaken, hot oil treatments are a no no. Not sure about oil in general, just that hot oil is bad.

Only shampoo and scrub your scalp, not your ends. use cold water to wash your hair, this will keep your cuticle closed and prevent fading. use salon quality shampoos and conditioners for color treated hair (your stylist should recomend something). you can retouch the blue your self by using manic panic, or whatever you find. it is a vegetable dye and will not harm your hair. mixing some into your conditioner is a good idea but make sure you only use it on the blue parts. use heat protectors since heat fades color.

Add a little dye to the conditioner as long as you don't plan to have blonde roots. cool water will make it last longer I know cold water sounds terrible but itll extend your colors life you can even add a little dye to your shampoo. no hot oil treatments regular oils are fine just no hot oil. dry shampoo will help keep the hair clean so you don't wash it as much. go as long without washing it as you can. use only sulfate free shampoos and conditioner. put a satin or silk scarf on your hair at night or sleep on a silk or satin pillowcase this will help keep your color from absorbing into the pillowcase plus you will reduce frizz by so much.

Shanae, I'm excited too! It may not be for awhile since it's super expensive to get done but I'd rather wait and pay a premium price to get exactly what I want than to get a cheap price and possibly have my hair ruined. It's my next big purchase!

No problem if possible ask what color line she will be using all color lines have different tricks to make it last longer if you know the brand I can probably help you with more tips :)

Thanks, Charlese. I've colored my hair a ton in the past so I'm not a newbie when it comes to taking care of dyed hair, I just haven't done an unnatural color (:
