I use this, and I really like it. I really don't see any difference between this and any of the other higher end brands that I've tried..but who knows. It's kind of hard to complete heat protectors lol, it does it's job and that's about it. It does smell amazing though! Oh, I will say though, if you spray it too close to your hair, it leaves it feeling crispy.

Heat protectors are mainly a concoction with silicon in it. The silicone helps the styling tool smooth over your hair more quickly to prevent burning. It doesn't actually protect your hair from heat. I mean think about it, you are talking temps of 400+ and things will burst into flame at around 550. A little silicone isn't going to help much. Some of the heat protectors have plant oils in them as well to try to weigh down any frizzled hair so it isn't so noticible. That's not a good ingredient unless you have very coarse very curly hair. I recently got GOT2Be Angel guard as a replacement for my Chi iron guard. The plant oils in that one make my hair greasy.
The Not your mothers looks like it has sunflower oil. That's pretty much an oil that you would use to fry chicken. Why would that protect your hair from heat? And the vitamins do nothing since your hair is dead tissue, it can't absorb vitamins. They are probably in such small quantities as to be a non issue anyway.

I guess it depends if sunflower oil is something you want to put on your hair. With certain hair types it might be fine.

I love how my Not Your Mothers beach wave spray smelled but it really, really fried my hair. I think any salt spray probably would have cooked out my hair, especially given that I was in the sun and wind a lot at the time.
