I'm thinking of getting my finger nails done over spring break. Which is better, gel or acrylic nails??

I personally love acrylics, though I've never tried gels so I'm a bit biased. I have never experienced the horror stories that stem from getting acrylics, but yeah. They've worked for me over the years.

If you have nice, natural, long nails then I would go with gel. If not, then get acrylic. I like both, but I don't like how my nails are after Acrylics.

I get liquid gel nails. They still give the length like acrylics because a tip is added but the rest is a different process. I used to always get acrylics but they would stain easily, the Polish would chip more quickly on me and when they grew out I hate how they looked. All these issues I've never experienced with liquid gels. Everyone always compliments me on my nails and I've turned so many people on to them. I had to take them off for beauty school and state boards but I'm getting them put back on next week

Also the liquid gels don't damage my nails like acrylics did, which weren't that horrible either though and they looked great longer which meant I spend less money on fills because they were done less often

I've had both and in my opinion I don't recommend either, yes gel looks amazing and lasts longer and acrylics also last a while and look great and you can get any shape or length but if you decide to commit to gel or acrylic you have to commit for longer than just the 2 weeks. When you have them removed your nails will be DESTROYED. There are also health risks with both of them, but more so with gel. The you've light isn't healthy and soaking your nails in acetone isn't good for you either. I wouldn't recommend getting gel nails more than once a year. But you have to remember that after you chose to get them removed your nails will be soft, brittle and thin. I just read a few articles about this yesterday. If you google it plenty of articles will come up that talk about the pros and cons of both. With regular manicures, you're natural nails can look better than acrylics. Trust me I know!

I prefer gels, but I naturally have long nails. If you wan long nails and don't have them I would recommend acrylics but the gels I have currently are three weeks and without any chips

Definitely gel. They're both a little rough on your nails when you decide to stop using them, but the damage is less with gel. And the health risk is minimal with the UV light. My dermatologist said you'd have to use it an hour a day for 15+ years to see any damage. Plus, most salons have moved over to LED lights so there's no risk there.
