I want to get my nails done for my birthday. I've gotten acrylics before and wasnt happy with the result of my natural nail afterwards. I've never tried gel but researched and discovered that the light used to dry the nail can cause cancer, though I'm not so concerned bc I RARELY ever get my nails done enough like that. Which would be best for my natural nail?

The amount of radiation the UV light emits is minimal. According to my dermatologist you would have to use it for an hour a day for 15+ years for any real damage to be done. Also, many salons are making the switch to LED lamps, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. Gel can damage your nail like acrylic when you remove it, but if you keep a strengthening polish on afterward it's fine.

Honestly, they're both pretty much the same..
I get my nails done atleast every 2 weeks, I've never not got nails on. And they both damage my natural nails just as bad as each other. But I prefer gel as it lasts longer then acrylic. But for me personally they both damage just as bad.
