How often should I redye my hair?

I dyed my hair a pretty close shade of red to my natural color, because I had more of an auburn shade in some spots... But I have no idea how often I should redye it, since I can't tell where my roots begin and where the dyed section begins! Any ideas?

I would dye it whenever you feel like you have too. dyeing your hair every other week isn't great for your hair, so I would just do it once a month. but I have "virgin hair" so I'm not sure how long dye stays in your hair.

Depends what type of dye it is. Semi-permanent washes out, whereas permanent grows out.
If it's semi, I'd suggest whenever you see fading that's noticeable.
If it's permanent, when you start seeing noticeable roots.

Mines a permanent colour (reddy-brown), which is only a few shades different between my natural colour. I had mine dyed 14th March and my roots are obviously through but it doesn't bother me.

Otherwise, I'd suggest a re-dye every 1-3 months
