I have combo skin (more oily). I currently use L'Oreal True Match Foundation which I like in the winter but in the summer my skin is too oily. I also have MUFE Mat Velvet + but I find it too heavy. I've been using the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer (I still find that my skin looks oily after 3-4 hours). I've also tried the CoverFx Calming Primer (my skin looks very oily after a couple hours). Can anyone suggest a foundation and primer for my combo/oily and extremely sensitive skin? I'm looking for something with a light but buildable coverage similar to the L'Oreal True Match.

You might look into Meow cosmetics. I have very oily skin been using Clinique for years. Just placed and received order with Meow. They are mineral only makeup. Handmade in lots of foundation choices. They also have a nice made for oily skin primer. I have just started with True Match in the mineral formula right before my Meow cosmetics came in. Nice thing is you can buy $1 samples of Meow. Bad since it's a small company and handmade it takes 10 days to get it. Also look at Urban Decays.

I rather shop where I can see the products in person. I won't buy foundation online, I'll never be able to get my shade right lol.

MUFE's Mattifying Primer or Givenchy's Mister Matte for primers. For foundation, MUFE's Matte Velvet Plus, Estée Lauder's Double Wear or Lancome's 24 hour. I'd highly recommend a setting spray & mattifying powder as well if you're really having an issue with oil. Urban Decay's All Nighter is the best option I've found for spray & for powder MUFE's Duo Matte, Clinique's Stay Matte or Essence's powder... I can't recall the name but it's white & just incredible for prolonging staying power.

Thank you Jacqueline. Like I said before I already use MUFE Mat Velvet + and I find it too heavy. I'm pretty sure Double Wear and Lancome are full coverage? I'm looking for something with light coverage.
I definitely want to check out MUFE's primer.

Hi Shauna... I have extremely oily skin and it surprises me that hourglass Veil primer isn't getting the job done.

how's your skin care?
make sure to use products that doesn't have alcohol in them and won't dry out your skin because it will cause your skin to produce more oil than it normally does to compensate for the drying out. also use a n oil free moisturizer. that really makes a big difference. I use neutrogenas oil free moisturizer for sensitive skin and it is great, it didn't get my face greasy or oily.

mufe mat velvet is another great product. and I know you said you wanted something with a more of a lighter coverage but you can always use less of a full coverage and have a more natural look.

mufe ultra HD is another great one. light-medium coverage and buildings as well. that foundation really does even put your skin tone and best part of it is that looks just like skin...even in person.

there's also the pro mat foundation by L'Oreal or maybelline... not sure but that foundation is great also. a Lil drying in opinion but good product in general.

How are you applying your foundation? That might be the issue as well! I consider full coverage to be like Estée Lauder's Maximum Cover, Kat Von Dee's Lock-it or Dermablend, so no I wouldn't say they are full coverage & they can definitely be worn sheer depending how you apply them! Another option is Hourglass' foundation, Immaculate, which dries to a powder finish. You might have difficulties finding a matte foundation with sheer coverage, so definitely try out some different application tips!

Application techniques** & meant to add they are not full coverage in my personal opinion! :)

Thank you!!

I currently use a cleanser and moisturizer by Modere which are both amazing and oil free. I don't mind the hourglass veil mineral primer but I don't love it. I find people on here rave about it but I don't get the hype. It definitely doesn't keep me looking less oily for a long time.

When I put my face makeup on everything looks great and then like 3 hours later it looks patchy especially on my nose. I apply my foundation with my fingers. I recently bought the L'Oreal Setting Spray but I haven't tried it yet. I've tried the L'Oreal Pro Matte foundation but I wasn't a huge fan. I found it was still a bit thick and I was oily after 4 hours after wearing it. I prefer a more satin finish to my foundation but it's so hard to achieve this look. I really want to try Dermablend. Do they sell it in stores?

It's interesting that you have problems with True Match. I had it on today and temperature was up here. I have same problem your having with it now. I thinking of going back to Clinique. but they don't have my old foundation anymore. I want to get that setting spray but have only seen it in one store here. at the time I was cash poor. think I might try Urban Decays see how that goes. I would prefer mineral based also but we shall see what we end up with. We are all different.

Just one last thing, four hours of being matte is good. let's be realistic. you won't get eight hours of shine free makeup.

Oh I don't really care about looking matte all day, that is unrealistic. But I don't want to looks greasy. I just want to have a nice natural/satin finish.
