Last night I went to a school dance and about 10 minutes in my eyes started watering like crazy and were really red. It got to a point where I had to take all my makeup off making me feel super uncomfortable given I wear lots of makeup every day. The reaction went away soon after. I didn't try any new products, but I did use a new color from my eyeshadow pallet (two faced natural eyes). I've used that pallets before though. Does anyone have any idea what happened?? Anything would be helpful. I DO NOT want it to happen again. Thanks so much!!

Did you share products with someone else? You might have gotten some product into your eyes or it was just very dusty at the place.

I did actually share. Would that effect it?

Yes. Though ideally you shouldn't, If you are going to share makeup, please please please sanitize it! If your friend had something or just bacteria in his/her eye, that could be transferred to the product.

And the contaminated product would be transferred to your skin. I'm not an expert here, but I would say sanitize all the products that your shared. Beautylish carries a "makeup sanitizer" called beauty so clean. Your can also scrape off top layers of product, but just search online a bit how to sanitize your products.

Were you wearing lenses?

Owie... I agree with Katherine. Always sanitize if you are going to share, though in a perfect world make up shouldn't be shared (especially eye make up.)
I sanitize my make up by spraying it with Alcohol, I use the Beauty So Clean wipes to wipe off the top layer of any creme product. I'd wash and disinfect any brushes you may have used too.

I washed my brushes before and after and the color I wiped off the top layer. I wasn't wearing lenses either...

Maybe I didn't wipe it off well enough...
