On the 23rd of this month I will be heading to Connecticut and New York. What should I wear? Will it be warm? I will most likely be walking a lot. I'm originally from California and I have no idea what a real Autumn is like. What places should I be sure to visit?

I'd keep checking AccuWeather for the monthly forecast of September. Autumn can be cool in the 70's..dropping to much lower temperatures in the evening. Temperatures are cooler near the lake in Chicago, so I expect this applies to the Ocean as well. It would seem there may be an Indian Summer based on current weather predictions. I'd wait another week or two and check back to see any shifts in expected weather.

I agree with rozberry. I live in the northeast and it's 85 here today but in a few weeks it's supposed to drop into the 50's. I don't know which part of new York your visit g but if you're planning to go into the city wear comfortable sneakers. on my first trip to NYC I wore flat sandals and it was horrible. My feet were in pain for days..lol.

I would definitely recomend layering. last time I was in new York the forcast was 65 and and windy (in april) and I honestly wish I had worn a heavy sweater or my winter jacket because when the sun went down and that wind kicked up it was COLD.

I suppose it depends on what your body is acclimated to. I'm good anything above 34 degrees, so 65 is glorious for me, Kelly. You are dead on about layers and taking wind into consideration. Wind is a game changer for sure!

Thank you everyone. I have been checking the 10 day forecast a lot, but I will have to wait until it's closer to the day. Great idea with layering! I do run warm, but my cold is like 60 because I've only lived in hot States.
I will mostly be in Mystic, CT and Great Neck, NY. I will be in the city at least one day. I'm so excited, Autumn is my favorite season and we don't really experience it here.
