Is 1% salicylic acid less effective for clearing acne than 2%? I'm using 2% right now, if I drop down to 2% will I break out more?

If you are seeing results with 2%, I see no reason why you might want to try bumping it down to 1% to see how your skin responds. You can always return to 2%. Why did you want to change it, if you don't mind me asking...

If it works fine, don't change. But if you are still breaking out it is possible you are over doing it. When you dry out your skin too much your skin will start to produce more oil to over compensate. Make sure to use a water based moisturizer. But it's best to talk to your doctor!

1 % is not as strong as 2%. I agree. If it works, stick with 2%. The only reason most people would go down to 1% is if 2% was too irritating.

I went from 2% to 1 myself because I incorporated a wash from my derm with tea tree, so 2% wasn't necessary, but I also use Retinoids. I was just wondering why the change..if as the ladies were suggesting...that you were maybe drying out. Moisturizing is key to its success at any percent.
