Has any one worn cheapy colour contacts? I've seen them about in the price range of $30-$50 and I'd love to give them ago, but not if they're only single use or if they are bad for your eyes/uncomfortable. Has anyone used then? Thanks!

I wear coloured contacts and I'm getting blue ones soon! The one I am wearing last for a year and is comfortable all day long so you don't need to worry about it.

Where did you buy them? It what brand? Thank you! I'll defiantly get them if they last that long! I want blue ones too :)

You should look at circle lenses. They last 6 months to a year with proper care.

Before doing anything, see an optometrist. Get an evaluation and ask if "standard" size plano lenses are okay for your eyes. Not everyone can wear nonprescription lenses. Second, nonprescription lenses are technically illegal to purchase in the United States (all contacts are regulated as medical devices by the FDA, even colored lenses). Most likely you would be purchasing lenses from overseas, which presents risks if you aren't a very cautious shopper. Once you have spoken to your optometrist and had your eyes measured, learned that it is safe to use contacts, and thought about what kind of lenses you want, then you can purchase a pair. I recommend YouKnowIt (based in the UK) or HoneyColor (based in Malaysia) for lenses.

As for comfort, everyone is different. Generally lenses with higher water content are more comfortable. Because colored lenses are thicker than corrective lenses, they should not be worn for longer than a couple of hours a day, and not worn every day. The eye needs oxygen, and the lenses can dry out very badly. Proper sanitation and maintenance is critical, otherwise serious damage to the eye can occur. Always use a sterile contact lens solution and read all the warnings on the box. Inspect lenses for tears, bends, or debris before putting them in. Put contacts in before doing makeup. And carry eye drops with you in case they start to feel dry.

If at any point your eye starts to get red, feel itchy, or is otherwise irritated: TAKE OUT THE LENSES. Do not put them back in! Inspect them for tears and debris, clean them, and wait until the irritation is gone before trying again. Be very careful to never put in a lenses inside out--you've never experienced agony quite like that I can guarantee it.

Contact lenses DO expire anywhere from 1month to a year after opening, but with proper care and continued maintenance it is possible to keep them longer. I have had one pair of yellow lenses for close to three years. Again, always inspect the lens before wearing. If you don't wear the lenses frequently, be sure to change the solution every month to prevent protein build up and drying.

If you have any other questions, let me know! I've been wearing costume lenses for years.

Wow thank you Emily! I will go see an optometrist then because I really don't want to damage my eyes obviously, that's my main concern, thanks for the brands tips too!

Glad I could help! There's a lot of bad information out there about contacts, so if I can help anyone I am happy to do so. I had to figure it all out on my own and ended up real lucky that I didn't screw myself up.
