To some, makeup is a mask. It is a way to hide what society doesn't want to see. What they will shun if they know you obtain a small imperfection.
To others, makeup is a confidence booster. It is a way to enhance one's natural beauty and make them feel more alluring than they already are.
To me, makeup is a means of expression. It is a way to tell people how I am feeling. On certain days I wear certain colors in a certain way. I show them in a way that people will be able to see inside of me. They will see that I am wearing bright colors and know that I am happy. They will see that I am wearing something sultry and know that I am ominous. I use makeup to disclose my state of mind. Sometimes I am in a state of euphoria, or perhaps a daydream, whereas others I may be in a state of hysteria or manic.
To me, makeup is a friend. Makeup is my diary. I come to it in my times of need; in my times of sorrow; in my times of merriment. Makeup helps me get away just as a sketch might help someone, or a poem, or a dance, or a lyric. Makeup has always been there when no one else was.
Some people look at me. They say I'm weird, or strange. Is it so that I am strange because I am not following your rules? Is it so that someone is so extravagantly weird because they are wearing blue when you're wearing green?
Makeup is my worst enemy. When ever she is with me I get looks and stares and snickers and whispers. But I can't stay mad, for I use it to live my life. Without makeup I wouldn't be me.
To me, makeup is who I am.
