Beauty Product Reviews

these totally work!

I was cynical about this product, but it actually works! Don't put too much of it on your nails though, or it gets greasy and doesn't work at all. Only downside is that it's kind of expensive and runs out really quickly. I'd like a bigger bottle for my buck.

great colors, but long dry time

I own 6 of Revlon's nail polishes, and for the most part they are great--the brushes are thinner than most nail polishes, making it easier to control the paint, and they always have trendy colors that are really bright and intense, just the way I like them. They also last a really long time without chipping or peeling. The only downside is that the formula is thick, and thus takes a really long time to dry.

Really easy to apply, even for a beginner. The super-thin brush makes it simple to create a thick or thin line, and it's very easy to control. Goes on easily, either over eyeshadow or bare lid. Very black, and stays on forever!

must-have mascara!

If there’s one product I can’t live without, it’s this mascara. I have small eyes and short, straight lashes, so I need a big, dramatic mascara to get the job done. I’ve worn DiorShow Blackout every day since I first tried it three years ago, and I’ve spent a lot of money trying to top it—but no mascara is better in my book. Its thick, uber-black formula defines, lengthens and curls with a staying power that lasts all day. I curl my lashes before applying for an extra “oomph” before going out at night, and they stay curled and full until I take the mascara off. I have seasonal allergies that make my eyes water, and the waterproof formula stays put no matter how watery and itchy my eyes get. The only drawback to this mascara is that it’s impossible to completely remove at the end of the day. And a warning if you have naturally long or curly lashes—this product isn’t for you; it’ll make your lashes look spidery. But if you’re looking for a thick, powerful mascara to take your lashes to the next level, this is the best of the best.

easy-to-use and buildable color!

I have fair skin and rosy cheeks that get red easily, so I was looking for an alternative to blush that would still give my face some color and a subtle glow suitable for daytime wear. Guerlain’s Terracotta Bronzing Powder in 01 is light enough for me to wear no matter what the time of day, but is totally buildable so that I can layer it on for a more bronzed look for nighttime or during the summer. For a lighter touch, I use a stippling brush to apply it instead of a kabuki. I love that it’s moisturizing and long-lasting without being too heavy, and the rose scent is heavenly and reminds me of my grandmother’s perfume. I just wish it had SPF in it. It’s also a bit on the pricier side, but it took me a year to go through my first compact with almost-everyday use, so you get a lot for your money.

Not worth it!

I’m usually a big fan of BeneFit, and I’ve heard good things about their BADgal pencil eyeliner. I decided to try the waterproof version since I have allergies and my eyes water, but I was not impressed. The pencil isn’t soft enough to glide easily over my eyelid, even after I warm it up between my fingers. It doesn’t smudge easily, and the smudger on the end of the pencil is completely useless. It wears off of my waterline within just a few minutes, and off of the lash line after a few hours, but leaves traces behind that are great if you like the raccoon look. The only good thing about the BADgal waterproof pencil eyeliner is its super-black color, but overall I much prefer my less expensive and better quality Revlon eyeliner.
