China Glaze Nail Laquer
Personally China Glaze is my fav! They have the best colors, im into brights and metallic and they have a great selection. I usually get them for 2-4 dollars at the beauty supply by my house, i see other's pay around 6-8 for them, either way ill continue to buy :)
Loved it in the bottle.
So here is my thing... I love this color it is unlike many I have seen... But here are some down falls... It is realllllyyyy runny, and took 4-5 coats for it to even be the correct color... But once it was one my nails it looked amazing!
LOVE China Glaze
I first rec'd China Glaze for Xmas. I rec'd 8 bottles. They were in holiday collections so three in one box, three in another, and two in another. OMG!! I fell in LOVE!! This is the best polish I have ever used. I have tried OPI, Nicole by OPI and Essie. Nope, not fans of them. However, China Glaze has made me so happy! In about two and a half months I went from 8 bottles to 24! I picked up some clearance at Sally's and Ulta and also rec'd a bottle free when I bought Seche Vite top coat at Sally's. Today I rec'd my nail mail of the complete Electropop Collection! I love it!!! So, IMO, China Glaze is the best! I know others swear on other brands, but not me. : )
China Glaze's Holly Day nail lacquer is from their limited edition Holiday 2011 collection. It's a deep green with a creme finish. I purchased my bottle at Sally's for $3.50 for .5 fl oz. It was like 35% off. China Glaze varies in price depending on where you get it, and how new the collection is, and retails for between $5-7 normally. China Glaze does not test on animals and is made in the USA. Their products are DBT, Toluene, and Formaldehyde free.
I really like China Glaze's packaging. Their bottles are round and made of thick glass. Their caps are made of black, texturized plastic that are easy to grip. The China Glaze logo is embossed on the top of the cap, always a classy and subtle touch. The cap is firmly attached to the top of the brush.
China Glaze's brushes are long and fairly flat with a lot of give. They're not the best brushes I've worked with. By no means are they bad brushes, or difficult to work with, I just prefer firmer bristles.
Holly Day has a good formula that's neither too thick nor too thin. It's the perfect consistency for nail polish. The application of Holly Day is fabulous. It goes on in smooth, even, streak free coats. I tend to wear two coats of Holly Day, but its nearly opaque in one. A single, generous coat would be completely wearable.
Holly Day's color is hard to describe. A cool, medium-dark green. I want to call it like a slightly darker, generic Christmas green. It's a unique color for a polish. Not really the color of really holly leaves, but fake ones. Holly Day has a cream finish that's super smooth and shiny, even without the help of top coat. It kinda looks like the overly waxy looking leaves in Christmas decorates. I don't know if that's what China Glaze was trying to convey with this polish, but they got is spot on. Kudos, China Glaze
I find that Holly Day doesn't wear as well as the other China Glazes I have. China Glaze is the brand I get the best wear from. I'm pretty sure it's infinite really. I've gotten 10 days of wear from For Audrey once. However, I've worn Holly Day four times, and it's averaged 3 days of wear. That's not awful or anything, it's just not up to par with China Glaze's usual wear time. I star getting tip wear on the end of the first day, and major chips on day three, at which point I remove it. It's also not super water-resistant, so it can come up in the corners a bit if you take a long bath or wash a lot of dishes.
Holly Day isn't a fast drying polish. It takes each coat roughly a minute to dry, which is pretty average.
I recommend checking the clearance racks at Sally's to see if you can still find Holly Day. It's not the best China Glaze polish I've used, but it's pretty good. The color is unique, while still being wearable. It looks awesome with Zoya's Ivanka layered over it. It doesn't have the best wear, but a little top coat can probably fix that. Best of all, unlike most green polishes, Holly Day doesn't stain! Swish. I'm not sure if I would've picked up this polish at full price, but for $3.50, I'm quite pleased with Holly Day.
Don't Buy The Topcoat
I'm only writing this as a warning to fellow China Glaze fans. I purchased the quick-dry topcoat and it's terrible. My polish popped off my nails within 24 hours of application.
Good quality
These polishes are beautiful. The colors are highly pigmented, and it shows up so well on the nails. I love the variety of shades, and the fact that these polishes stay on longer. My favorite color will always be "dear Audrey" because it is that perfect Tiffany blue. I'm obsessed.
Never Fail polish
China Glaze is an amazing brand, when I was pregnant I really wanted to have my nails painted at all times I wanted to paint my nails at least twice a week haha however my sister bought me a ton of colors from china glaze and I was really happy with them all but they wouldn't chip..EVER!! which meant I had no reason to reapply nail polish so I had to chip my nails manually haha and then smile because now I could polish ( sick I know, hey I was pregnant and bored haha) so this is a winner in my book, unless you like chippy nail polish : )
good quality!
I have a lot of China glaze nail polishes evening seduction is my fav though Hehe I love the pigmentation and it lasts on your nail the only issue I have with it is when it gets about 3/4 gone it gets REALLY thick and unusuable.. and that's a total bummer...
I have these in two colors at the moment: For Audrey and Towel Boy Toy. The formulas are good and apply nicely. For Audrey is my favorite of the two simply for the color and how opaque it is. TBT is much more sheer and takes about 3-5 coats for me to get it the way I like. I've worn these without a base or top coat, and they've lasted me a good week or so without too much wear. All in all, I do prefer them over other polishes I have, and am planning on buying more. (Just staying away from the brighter colors.)
