When the temperature drops, it's only natural to give your fashion wardrobe a cold-weather makeover. Warm, lush fabrics gain priority closet space as lighter, gauzier outfits are demoted to drawers. But don't forget about your face—your complexion needs those extra rich layers just as your body does! Even though we substitute cashmere for creams, it's important to choose rich, nourishing textures all over for winter. Can you check off everything in your beauty closet?
RICH SPF
A high-tech ski jacket insulates and protects your body against freezing temps and sun exposure in high altitudes. Switch out your daily SPF with a thicker emollient formula when you’re braving the elements.
Beautylish recommends: Vive Sana Solar to Polar Ultra
FACIAL OIL
Sometimes one source of moisture just isn't enough. Just as long johns add an extra layer of bodily insulation, a facial oil provides a thin yet robust coating of hydration to the face.
Beautylish recommends: Weleda Almond Soothing Facial Oil
LIP BALM
Lip care is a year-round concern, but this season can be especially harsh. Lips are frequently dehydrated in dry climates, so slather them in moisture as you would wrap a scarf around your neck.
Beautylish recommends: The Body Shop Shea Lip Butter
DEEP CONDITIONER
Remember those deep conditioning treatments you were thinking about trying? Your limp hat hair needs help—now! Treat your locks to a hair mask once a week to get rid of static and frizz.
Beautylish recommends: Joico K-PAK Deep Penetrating Reconstructor
HAND CREAM
Dry, scaly hands feel as unpleasant as they look. Invest in multiple tubes of hand cream to keep at home, at work or school, and in your purse. Your mitts needs to stay soft and smooth all season.
Beautylish recommends: Yes to Carrots Hand and Elbow Moisturizing Cream

I love using Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream on my lips during the cold winter months. It really protects against the winter winds.

Some people though, might want to lower their SPF to maybe 15-20 during winter because although there are still harmful rays from the sun, the days are much shorter and sunlight through the skin is the main source of vitamin D. More people are becoming deficient due to high sunblock and less time outside, which can cause depression as well as problems associated with low calcium.
