There are some products that have stood the test of time. For years they have proved to be loyal companions, washing our faces through high school and graduation and moisturizing limbs for weddings and first dates. These items are classic, and they probably first lived in your mom or sister’s bathroom cabinets before secretly making their way into yours. We love these cult beauty favorites, but so often, they are forgotten. So for those beauty beginners, or anyone looking for the unsung heroes in the beauty world, we’ve put together a list of our most prized creams, soaps, and lotions. If you don’t have any of these goodies in your vanity, be sure to add them to your shopping list.
CETAPHIL DAILY FACIAL CLEANSER
Beloved by editors and celebrities worldwide, this super gentle yet extremely effective formula is perfect for a sensitive complexion and helps to balance your skin’s natural oil production. If you’re searching for a basic, no-frills cleanser, be sure to give the drugstore essential a try.
AQUAPHOR
No matter how many fancy new lip moisturizers, glosses, or balms appear on the market, we’ll always come back to Aquaphor. The ultimate lip healer, you can also use this multitasking jelly as a highlighter on your cheekbones and cupid’s bow, mix it with eye shadow to create a dewy blush, or even slick it on as a moisturizer when in need.
OLIVE OIL
This isn’t just a kitchen staple, the rich, aromatic olive oil has a multitude of uses in your vanity. Slather it all over your hair as a deep conditioning treatment, apply some on a cotton ball and remove stubborn waterproof makeup, smooth a few drops onto your legs for a subtle sheen, or mix a little oil with sugar for a DIY lip scrub!
DR. BRONNER'S MAGIC PURE CASTILLE LIQUID SOAP
Looking for an all-in-one? This USDA certified organic liquid soap combines extra virgin olive oil, jojoba oil, and vitamin E for a thorough yet gentle clean. Use it as a shampoo, face wash, hand soap, brush cleaner—or anything that needs a scrub!
PREPARATION H
Preparation H may not seem like the most elegant of under eye creams, but this hemorrhoid cream has been a backstage staple for years. The formula diminishes black circles and puffy eyes almost immediately.

i have to say No to 3 of these. 1 being cetaphil. it is great as a general face cleanser but not really for makeup wearers. doesn't break everything down. 2 is aquaphor because of the mineral oil. you have to reappy too often because there are no ingredients that absorb into or heal the skin. and 3 the prep h for obvious reasons including the fact that the active ingredient could potentially cause long term eye problems. why couldn't the beauty classics be crushed rose petals as a lip stain or mayo as a hair conditioner or even plain old ice packs for puffy eyes?

I swear by Aquaphor in the wintertime. If my lips show even the first signs of being chapped, I slather it on at night and wake up the next morning to much softer and smoother mouth. It's also really great for rubbing into rough or cracked heels - smoothes almost instantly.

I use Aquaphor religiously. A friend of mine recommended it three years ago, and I haven't gone back since. I put a little, (seriously even pea sized is too big) on my finger, dab it on my lips and then any residue, I rub into my hands. Perfect for fall and winter coming soon.

Liking the sound of Cetaphil..may have to purchase some! I use olive oil for hair treatments all the time but I've never thought to use it to remove stubborn make up..love this post! So helpful!

I love Cetaphil! <3 I use the UVA/UVB defense facial moisturizer under my foundation and it helps keep it in place and it also helps the application go smoothly, I love it!

I read that the ingredient in Preperation H that decreases puffiness is no longer used in the United States, so it doesn't do anything unless you get it from Canada or something.. Please correct me if I'm wrong though!!

Cetaphil makes me soooo oily for some reason, but I LOVE that Dr. Bronner's soap to clean my brushes!

I am not a doctor, but I really do NOT recommend to use prep H on your eyes area!!! It was NOT designed for this, and don't you think it would be so well known if it was really true? Not like olive oil, we know it's true! And it has always been, greek, italian and spanish people have used it for centuries! But prep H on your eyes? Big no no! The skin of the eyes is a LOT thiner than the skin of any other part of your body, the creams do not stay on the surface, they get into your muscles, your eye ball, your cornea, etc, which can cause infections. I wanted to use a cream for eczema on my face once, for eczema purpose. Gosh, my doctor told me "never EVER use a product on the eyes unless it is made for the eyes. If you do not listen to me, you could get blind."
So really girls, not intending to piss anyone off, I would just feel awful if someone tried it out and woke up half blind bcause nobody said it could be dangerous!!
