Transformation with Billy B: Nicole Fox to Marlene Dietrich

Beautylish recently got together with superstar makeup artist Billy B and model Nicole Fox to create this dramatic transformation.

"The inspiration for this is Marlene Dietrich. This is my interpretation. She may very well be the most iconic look of all time. What I love about her is that she never changed. She knew exactly who she was, what her sense of style was and she never compromised or changed it. I was thrilled to work with Nicole Fox who I'm a huge fan of. She became Marlene Dietrich and that's what made the makeup come alive."

I can't say I like it, I'm sorry.. the brows look sloppy, and they're obviously photoshoped in the final photo. Too bad, 'cause Nicole is, like always, fabulous :)

Hi Joana,
I would never want or expect/respect you saying you like something if you do not, and do not ever be sorry for a objective, educated opinion....ever. I'm not sure which set of eyebrows you are referring too, as Nicole has her natural eyebrows as well as the eyebrows added. With that being said, I will assume you are commenting on all four brows. Indeed, covering eyebrows with any medium is not something that is quickly perfected, or rarely, if ever, is it perfected to the point that it is completely undetectable to the naked eye/video recording as it is here as we were recording the process...in real time, with utilitarian lighting so that the process could be seen in a realistic and productive way. In regards to the eyebrows that were "drawn" above the "covered" brows, there are at least several options/choices that could have been made here. One being re-creating a brow, complete with hair, painting or drawing a brow, creating the illusion of individual hairs, or drawing or painting the "shape" of brows without the attempt at the illusion of "hair". The choice I made is the way I wanted them to be. As the makeup artist, I made that choice. After reading your comments about the clip of Nicole, I looked for/googled the photos that you could be referring too that appear to be obviously photoshopped and I have created a album for them... Marlena starring Nicole Fox. The photos that the google search produced appear to be primarily screen grabs from the video clip and, you are correct that I found at least 1 photo that does indeed appear to have been photoshopped. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to discuss this, as that is exactly what I hope Beautylish is all about... the love of Makeup, the process, choices,alternatives, styles, etc. So again, Thank you. There is one thing that I would love for you to elaborate on is your comment about Photoshop being too bad, cause Nicole is, like always fabulous.
I look forward to hearing from you! You are correct again in saying "Nicole is always Fabulous" because I am her biggest fan. She is a beautiful girl, a exceptional human being, and a wonderful model and actress that Beautylish and I were blessed to have work on this and other projects that have yet to be revealed. A good model plays a major role in ultimately how we as a makeup artists succeed in a job or project, as do many, many other factors do.. Photographer, lighting, hair, styling, time, conditions we are working in and the list goes on and on....
Finally and back to my confusion... Although Photoshop should never be relied upon, it is Nicole's friend, as it is the friend to all artists. A friend that's there IF and when you might need them. That is never "Too Bad"

I must way I was surprised to see your response, but pleased nevertheless. I never meant for my words to offend you in any way, it was jus my personal opinion, I hope you understand that.
As to its content: I am fully aware of the brows Marlene sported, as well as her whole style; the brows I was referring to earlier, were Nicole’s natural brows. I know very well how hard it is to cover up brows completely, but I also know that it is possible, with a mere bar of soap for example. That is why I felt a bit disappointed when I saw the video - in the final image, where Nicole is fully ‘transformed’, one cannot see her natural brows, but when you take a look at the video – they are obviously there. That is the only thing I was talking about when I said it was photoshopped (meaning the hairs of the natural brows have been erased).
As to Nicole, I have been a fan since she won ANTM 
