Okay, so many people have told me to blend my eyeshadow because you can see where it starts and finishes.. yet I've seen so many other people use bright colours, not blend and people say it's perfect! Sorry if this sounds bitchy.. I'm just curious. And I'm sorry if the answer to this is obvious, I have a pregnancy brain. It took me 10 minutes to find the butter today... It was on the bench.. Right in front of me ahah.

I don't know. I think it just depends on the makeup honestly.

Well you know people, some people always need something to bitch about. Your makeup probably looks great,

What do you mean "bright colors with no blending"? Because honestly, there's some degree of blending to everything. Even I, who hate blending, will admit that bright shadows don't look good if they don't blend seamlessly together. They may have a harsh line at the crease where the shadow stops, but that's a matter of preference and depends entirely upon the look that one is going for. Aside from that, with neutral colors most people tend to go with something more natural looking and therefore it becomes illogical to have harsh lines between the shadow shades. Does that make sense?

I posted in the makeup section a few hours ago with pictures of the eye make up I came up with, you'll probably understand if you see it. And I most of the makeup pictures I see on here aren't blended.. I also don't understand how you're supposed to blend bright colours (e.g purples, blues and greens) so what do you mean by blend? And what's the point of putting bright colours on if you're just going to blend it out?

And when you say that the colours look better blended together; in the picture I posted I'm 100% sure it was blended.. I even went over it again to see, I was still told to blend it.

When you see cut creases, its not going to be blended like some looks are, in that case, it looks okay. I always blend the helll out of my makeup though, as I'm not skilled enough for a cut crease yet.

take that photo, for example. is there blending in it? absolutely! The lid colors blend seamlessly with one another, despite the harsh line of the crease. There are quite a few pictures on my own profile as well that feature blended bright colors. I'll ask Jackie or Alma to help answer this question as well, but it really and truly depends on the look you're going for.

I have to agree with you.

If you are trying to do a smokey eye it needs to be blended out to create the smokey effect but if you are doing like a cut crease or a bold look that you need each color to stand out so you can see where each begins and where each ends then you don't have to completely bend it so as to lose the harsh lines that you need for the look - it just depends on what look you are going for that will determine where and how much to blend the colors together.

I definitely understand what you're saying. But different looks require different amounts of blending. Like a smokey eye needs heaps of blending while a cut crease doesn't need much. People should also say where to blend, as sometimes it's the lid colors look blockey and not blended or just the outer edges are to harsh.

I think when they're saying you need to blend more might be because of your camera. I can see that you blended, but you can see a bit of a harsh line on the middle of the lid when the two colors come together. I know a lot of the time I will spend tons of blending, but when I take a picture on my iPhone the transition color doesn't always show. But when I take a photo on my good quality camera the transition color shows and it all looks blending together. If that makes sense, I hope this helps. The people on here are just trying to help out.

Reading this conversation confused me ha. I feel blending is always necessary. Some looks may require less blending then others. Even if I'm wearing only an eyelid, I still blend it out around the edges. Maybe its a habit?
