Instead of gel try foxy curls by bedhead/Tigi.. It's a curl creme.

My deep conditioner varies by the week but I can say that instead of using gel try a curl pudding or creme like brands like Miss Jessie's, Aunt Jackies, Shea Moisture, and Ouidad.

I love Shea moisture products, for more moisture even while styling I suggest the coconut and hibiscus curl enhancing smoothie, I also highly suggest cantu Shea butter leave in conditioner, I can use it as a styling product alone!
