I hope I'm posting this in the right section, if not I am sorry.
OK ladies, I just tried out a diy sugaring recipe I found online for the first time. I used it on my arm first to test it out and all was good so I proceeded to my underarms. It did a great job of removing the hair but now my armpit is really, really red, and extremely sore.
Do any of you have any tips on how to make it heal up and feel better any faster than doing nothing at all?
Please post any and all suggestions; it hurts soo bad!

Try icing it or putting some cooling cream on it.

Don't put anything on them. If you do it will sting like crazy, but they should heal within about 1-2 days.

Thanks Sara, the only one I have has lidocaine in it, do you think it's still okay to use since my follicles are still open?

@Jacqlyn I took an ibuprofen about 5 min ago hoping it might help the swelling.

Oh and also since I can't use deodorant for a bit do you ladies think baby powder would be alright? I'm supposed to go out with a friend tonight and don't want to feel all sweaty.

Aloe Vera gel and Advil! If neither is available use ice.

Ouch! just wanted to throw this out there-if you put aloe don't put shirt on until its totally seeped in, it may leave a mark that looks like sweat.

That is very valuable info @duffs, I am changing into an old bikini top now with the aloe in hand. =)

Awch, Ide defiantly put some sort of cold compress on and if it's not much better within a few hours and you think it's a reaction Ide go get medical advice 😕

Thanks to all of your advice my underarms are feeling much better already. They are still pretty pink but no where near the color they were lol. I'm going to try some ice tonight if they don't look normalish yet.

No! Pain pills are so not the answer!! Too late now, but pleaaaase pleaaaase avoid them whenever you can. I hate to sound like my mom, but oh, the damage to your liver (or was it the kidney?? oops) if you take them for small things like that! Cold water might've helped though. Glad you're feeling better :)

Thanks Jenny, I also avoid pills like the plague. This is the first pill I've taken this entire year other than my daily birth control, so I think my liver is going to be just fine. But trust me this was no small thing. It felt like my pits were on fire, and cold water was the first thing I tried with no success.
They are a light pink now, hoping when I wake up they will be all better. =) Thank you all big time!

Ibuprophen actually doesn't affect the liver (or kidneys) like people think. I found out from my doctor when we thought my daughter got into the Advil and my doctor said in order for it to affect her she'd need to take 36 400mg pills for her weight of 26lbs. So multiply that for roughly our weight and we'd need 6 bottles of Advil to affect our liver.

Anyway that said, you should never use deodorant the day you wax your underarm, because the follicles are open, and before you wax clean the area well with soap and water then wipe down with rubbing alcohol. Then dust a thin layer of cornstarch to your underarm. This will act as a protective barrier between the wax (or sugar) and your skin, making it so it's only the hair it sticks to. Which will result in less pain when pulled and less redness after.

Waxing your underarm is much easier if you have the help of a friend of spouse. You should put your arm up and over the back of your head so your hand is touching your opposite shoulder. Take you opposite hand and cup your boob on the side you are waxing and pull it to the Center of your chest, get te second person to put the. Strip up, do a second application and pull the strip down (as you usually have hairs growing in both directions) and wax in sections with small strips, not the whole area at once in one big rip.

You can also purchase rose water to help with the burn/sting afterwards, but if done right there should be very minimal sting. Use warm water to remove any extra sugar from skin (baby oil if using wax) pay dry and then with a clean cotton ball or pad dust on some baby powder. Resume regular deodorant 24 hours later.

I know I'm late for your post, but I just wanted to offer a bunch of tips for future waxing experiences. ☺️ glad your feeling better and hopefully next time this won't happen ☺️

Raylene you are totally not to late. I always like info that helps my future ventures work out better. Where do you buy rose water from? Do you think Sally beauty supply would have any?

Uhm I'm not sure. I saw it once at walmart beside the witch hazel. So I'm sure you could find it there. There's also DIY rose water recipes on Pinterest, but I'm lazy and would rather just spend the $6 for a bottle haha.
