If you're very serious, it might be worth a trip to both. Albeit, it may be a costly trip...but both offer excellent SFX courses and both facilities are very nice (been to both), with top notch instruction. MUD also has a Burbank (Los Angeles) campus worth looking into.

I went to mud NYC 6 years ago and feel like it was valuable. You get what you put into it. Do your homework, stay focused and put a lot effort into your projects. It's in the heart of the fashion district and well connected in the fashion/entertainment world. There is still a lot to be learned after attending makeup school no matter where you go but I would say MUD was a great jumping off point. I make a living as a makeup artist, so goal achieved right? :) hope that helps! Good luck!

I graduated MUD this last July and i highly recommend it. The instructors are very dedicated to the students. I live 2 hours away and commuted everyday, I'm a single mom to top it off. I am very thankful for them and I would recommend them to everyone and they do offer fin aid :) good luck on your decision

@ Devin M. & Elana R. -- Did financial aid cover a good amount of the tuition fee? I'm torn right now.. I live in NJ, recently visited the Robert Fiance Makeup Academy in South Jersey which is 45 min away from my house and I really liked it. My original choice was to go to MUD NYC, but its a bit more expensive. However, even if I chose to go to Robert Fiance, its going to put a huge hole in my pocket bc as much as they try to accomodate you with tuition, its still not too cheap :/ Plus, looking @ it now, the commute would ve easier and cheaper to the city than to South Jersey.. Please let me know your opinions :)
