I've heard amazing things about MAC's lipliners & lipsticks. they sound far better than most other highend lipliners. I'm brand new to lip makeup as well, so I can't recommend any specific shades to you :c sorry, hope I could help a little!

So honestly my favorite lip liners belong to Urban Decay and OCC. the Urban Decay ones are just like their lipsticks: longwearing and super creamy, with great pigmentation. The OCC pencils are very different, they're not very creamy, but they apply very sharply and will create a wonderfully defined line that lasts easily all day. No touch ups required.

If I were you, I'd go to Mac and Sephora and try on colors to get the perfect color for "your lips, but better"! Perfect for everyday looks, it's different for everyone obviously! :)

Nyx lip liners over Eos lip balm. I wear them almost everyday and my lipstick lasts forever. about 5 to 6 hours before it starts looking crazy and chewed up.

I love nyx liners, I have a ton of them. They're amazing, I prefer the traditional ones that need to be sharpened. They're firm enough to give you an awesome application, but soft enough that they glide on without getting crumbly or breaking

I use a lot of nyx lip liners.

I used to use milani, rimmel, Avon. all good ones. I have some Mac ones, but I don't pay a lot for liners.
I want 2 occ ones. I'm glad Hannah has good things to say about them.

I like M.A.C liners. I have a bunch of NYX ones and they're ok. But the M.A.C are much better IMHO. The regular lip pencil is very good but the Pro Longwear is super creamy AND very long lasting, like had I known I would have been spending the extra few $ and buying those.

For long wear, I've noticed that "harder" liners stay longer and define the lips better than creamy liners, but I do use both types. My fave is OCC and Bare Minerals. I also like Urban Decay and Mac.
