I'm positive that there is something in the air at my work that my skin is allergic to. The problem is that v I can't really do anything to avoid it, because I have to work, and it doesn't seem to be from touching anything in particular, nor does it seem to be much worse one day to the next. When I work, my skin pretty much just dries up. It gets tight and red. I've been able to determine that it's not any of my skincare or makeup products, because I can use them on days when I don't work and everything is fine. I'm using the St Ives Green tea scrub on occasion, the Biore warming scrub on occation, and the 10 0 6 best face forward facial cleanser. I use Ponds good Cream to remove my makeup before I wash with my face wash. I'm using an aloe rosewater toner, and rose hip oil as well as First Aid Beauty's intensive moisturiser. and I've tried 4 or 5 foundations, but I've settled on Tartes Amazonian clay foundation. I've never had this problem anywhere but at work, and don't have any known actual allergies. I also don't have insurance, so I can't afford to see a dermatologist. Has anyone had something like this happen, and what did they do about it? Anyone have any suggestions for me? Thank you do much in advance!

When I go to my mothers work, it doesn't matter if I have makeup on or not my skin becomes incredibly dry because of the air conditioning ( hot or cold) my skin never goes red but hat may just because you are exposed to it on a regular basis. Do you have sensitive skin, because that could be the answer to the redness?? If you have a photo of it I'm sure a gp could help if you can't afford a dermatologist, I'm from New Zealand so I don't really understand the whole insurance thing sorry!!

I do have sensitive skin, but the sensitively is fairly new, like within the last year or so. I'll see if I can get a picture of it, but it may not show. I'll see if I can find a doctor somewhere in my college town that I could afford, because school is out, do I don't have their resources for the summer. I have tried some over the counter allergy meds, and they didn't do anything besides make me sleepy.

Thanks Em, I'll try that, The aloe toner from Mario Badescu helps a bit too,but both of the things you do sounds like they would work!

If it's started recently, you could explain to your bosses that you're having an allergic reaction to something there and ask if they've started using a new cleaning product or air freshener or something. If it's not a new thing and your job is super understanding, you could ask them to switch to all hypoallergenic products until you can figure out a doctor. As a last resort you could look into topical antihistamines - I have terrible allergies to so many things and recently discovered a Benadryl lotion that helps so much with itching/redness when I have a reaction to something. Alcohol is the second ingredient so it's probably not the best for face use, but I'm sure more delicate alternatives exist!

I asked my work today, and I think that it's because the air filters need to be changed. it seems to be bothering more than just me, as I ask around, so hopeful they will get around to having them

Changed soon. but it is a corporate chain grocery store, so there's bosses over my bosses heads, and the company is just emerging from bankruptcy, so I'm not sure anything is going to be done about it.
