I have slightly sensitive skin nothing too bad. It's is normal/dry. I need a fuller coverage long lasting foundation. I am going to Sephora this afternoon and I need some help. I've tried.
Kat Von D Lock-It(this was horrid. It was cakey and powdery looking, but I loved the coverage. The only thing I loved about it.)
UD Naked Skin (love this but not enough coverage or longevity)
Loreal true match and true match lumi (hated it)
Revlon Colorstay (Doesn't work well on my dry skin. It looks cakey)
Covergirl 3 in 1(can't find the right shade. Nothing yellow enough.)
Laura Mercier Silk Creme(Love this, bad color range, and not long enough lasting.)
MAC SFF (not long enough lasting and not enough coverage)
MAC matchmaster(was okay. Color range wasn't the best.)
MUFE Mat Velvet +(need better coverage)
I am NC15 in MAC. Please from sephora only as I have $50 gift card from there. Finish doesn't matter. I have some acne scaring that is minimal and redness I want to cover up. Primers don't really work well on me. Ido use setting sprays. I use pro Longwear and my concealer.

You could always set your foundation with something like studio fix for that extra coverage and spritz with fix + if you wanted a more Dewey glow. Hope this helps

I have that and it looks cakey. A lot looks cakey on me. I've heard amazing things about Estée Lauder Double Wear but I've also heard its a lot like revlon Colorstay.

I find that Estée Lauder just feels very heavy on my skin but It does give good coverage I used to use this for years but find there are ones that feel nicer on.

I've heard amazing things about both the Cover FX & Double Wear foundations. both have a matte finish. I know the Double Wear is a full coverage foundation.. I'm not 100% sure of the finish of the Cover FX foundation. I wanna say matte too tho, lol. most people who go for the Double Wear foundation have more oily skin tho, so it could end up looking cakey.. maybe try a sample first?
you could also try NARS Sheer Glow foundation? I got a sample of it when I bought the Sheer Matte & I loved it!! it works great for people with dry/normal skin type, has a medium-full coverage, & gives you a nice glowy finish without making you look sparkly or oily. they have a good variety of shades too.

I used to have this same exact issue with foundations looking cakey on me. My BFF finally said to me one day "it's your technique boo. It's not the foundation." Lol I was embarrassed to say the least but then she told me to try different methods of application and try working with a smaller amount of product and then building on top. Maybe this could help you also?

I know you said that the kat von d one was cakey but, I think that you were just applying it wrong. You aren't supposed to apply it the way you do with other foundations. Literally 1/2 of a pump will cover your entire face. When I first tried it, I used too much. The only thing I don't like actually is that it drys so fast so its hard to blend after a little bit.
