Its fine for dry patches but it's not going to really help the redness much and it's only good for using it directly on the irritated area not the entire face because it can cause breakouts

For dry patches I recommend using an oil or some sort of hydrator (not moisturizer) first, then topping it with Aquaphor. The Aquaphor won't add any moisture to your skin, it just traps the moisture in so that it won't seep out, same with moisturizers. If you don't have any natural hydration in your skin, you have to add some, otherwise the moisturizer will just sit on top of your skin and trap in the moisture that isn't there.
For dry, sensitive patches, I would say try gently pressing something like coconut oil in, waiting a bit for it to sink in, then going over it with a thin layer of the Aquaphor. To combat redness, steep either some green or chamomile tea, then put it in the fridge until it is completely cool. Take a little of the tea on a rag or cotton pad and gently dab it over the redness. Then pat your skin dry, and use a hydrator (serum or oil of your choice), then a moisturizer or Aquaphor, morning and night until the redness goes away. I have mild rosacea, and this really helps me! I wish whoever has the burn and redness a lot of luck!!

Don't use it on your face Bc it is really thick and will clog your pores.
