Palm oil is used is heaps of things, cosmetics, household cleaners, food, the list goes on. But the only thing you need to know about it is that is nasty and horrible for the environment. Basically rainforests are cut down and sometimes burnt down and replaced with palm oil plantations. This kills thousands of animals, leaves them homeless, injured and orphaned. A lot of companies use it because it can be heated to really high temperatures and is really cheap.
If you we're asking about it in terms of skin care/health - it's not good for your skin & is really high in saturated fats (the kind that makes you fat!) There are heaps of alternatives that are actually good for your skin like coconut oil, almond oil, vitamin a & e oil & many others.
I could go on for hours about how bad palm oil is but don't want to bore you all but just know that it's bad for you & even worse for the animals of the world.
