I dyed my hair maybe a month ago and I had washed it the day before and the day I did it it was fine the color was good but the next few days my color faded FASSST. and now its like if I bleached my hair, its soooo light. the dyed actually stripped all the color out. I always dye it black. its now a super light brown. does anyone know why this happened?? is it safe to re dye it??

What colour hair did you have before colouring it black? I've been dyeing my (naturally medium brown) hair black for 2 years and have found that black dye is a pain to keep black, mine always fades back to brown after a day or 2.

What brand did you use? Also was it a permanent or a Demi or semi?

My natural hair color is very dark brown. Charlese C I used drugstore brand but I've always used the same, it was permanent. can it be because my hair is very dry?

When you dye your hair you shouldn't have fresh clean hair, second day dirty hair works best! So if you washed it right before it may not have sticked or absorbed as well as it should've and then faded.

Also if your hair isn't dead then I'd say it's safe to re dye it. The rule of thumb is if you dye your hair wait 2 weeks before dying it again, in order for your hair particles to regroup

So one thing with box hair colors they are very unpredictable with box hair colors the hair shouldn't be freshly washed that can cause issues if you want to wash your hair before you color it be sure to put product on your hair but it's easier to just not wash it secondly it could be the batch that was in the dye it's box dye they can be unpredictable.
