ION is a very thick dye. You don't need developer but you might need something to thin out the dye so maybe conditioner? I've used Ion before and you don't need a developer in fact I think it tells you not to mix it with developer but if you can find a conditioner or a dye with a thinner consistency that matches the color of whatever dye you got from Ion like manic panic or some other you can mix in a bowl, then that'd be your best shot. If not I'd just mix it with some conditioner.

Thank You Very Much Dorothea! Big Help, so I can mix it with just any conditioner and it wouldn't hurt??

Yup! I've seen countless youtubers use it to dilute the color but its still worked well. I would highly advise mixing it with a white conditioner. Itll dilute the color a little but better than that then mixing with like a blue conditioner and getting a weird color.

As you saw the consistency of the Ion dye is difficult to work with but using the conditioner thins out the dye so that you can apply it more easier to your hair.

Lol is it Gunna Get darker cause it's blue black... I'm sorry for all the questions I've Never done this before...lol.

It should get darker, you just need to let it sit in your hair for a while since the conditioner did make the dye "lighter"

Dye its not going to look exactly the color it comes out of the bottle. I dyed my hair blue black and the dye was brown when I mixed it. The chemicals used allow the dye to look like that but the color will transfer onto your hair because my hair is dark now and not brown.

Test strand on your hair if you want to see if it does anything but to my understanding with dyes like Ion or any box dye, unless its an unnatural color most dyes are formulated a certain way where they appear yellow or brown, not exactly black or ash brown or blonde when you mix it. You have to let the dye be on your hair first for any color to transfer. It's not going to oxidize and turn blue black in your bowl haha you need to apply it to your hair.

Yea, it didn't come with anything. asked the ladies and she said it didn't need any... should I take it out of my hair cause I put a little in my hair and I don't want it to mess my hair up??
Aug 19, 2014

If you just put the dye and conditioner in your hair the most its going to do to your hair is change color, but thats up to you. If you don't feel comfortable with it then I guess rinse it out.
