I know there were some similar posts to this but the answers weren't quite what I was looking for. So...where is a good place to get an affordable bag for school? I kinda want either a shoulder/crossbody bag or a tote-ish bag. I'm only going into grade 9 so I won't need thirty million notebooks and binders but it still needs to be pretty durable.

When I was in grade 9, we had so many notebooks, handbooks, binders, books the school supplied you with etcetera.. Considering grade 9 is the hardest grade to complete, you will have a lot of things! A sturdy bag will do you good during the school year, I'd go for more of a backpack and not purseish bags, you don't want them breaking and be forced to buy new ones every few months.
I had a jansport bag for grade 9 and it lasted me all the way through grade 10. But, if that doesn't interest you, I suggest target! They have lots of cute bags!

@Vallerie What!? Everyone told me that I wouldn't need a lot of notebooks, binders and books! I'm so glad you told me this because otherwise I would've been completely unprepared! Thanks so much!

What does grade nine convert to in the US?

My freshman year I actually only needed a binder, notepad, Etc. Not that much. But definitely get a bigger backpack. If your willing to spend a little more money then I recommend a north face. Mine lasted me 7-9th grade and I can still use it.

It converts to freshman year of high school :)

I'm from Canada so I have no idea what it converts too 😭 but yeah, I had a lot of stuff! I hated carrying everything around, but, if you want less things, 1 big binder to combine all subjects together could be really useful!

Thanks Liv! I'm from Canada too! I am so confused with the American grade names. I don't think we are allowed to carry our bags/backpacks to every class. We only have four subjects and I was going to get one big zipper binder. Do you think that would be ok?

Yes that would be fine :) tons of kids at my school use thise.

As am I, I don't understand the whole freshman junior stuff 😂 but, to the school I went in Montreal we weren't allowed to bring our bags in class, but if we did, the teacher would tell us to put them at the front of the class (which was weird) & a zipper binder would be perfect!! Those are super organized!

I actually just had 1 lined notebook per class, and put my papers in my textbooks. I wasn't super organized, but I always knew where everything was. I just had my purse, and carried the textbook/notebook I needed to class, and stopped at my locker to get the other textbooks. I did that for all of highschool.

Thanks Zoey! That actually helps a lot because I know now that I don't need to have 10 of the honkin big ass binders! Lol 😂

People say I'm disorganized, but I only need $10 a year for school supplies!!

I'm kinda thinking if I see a big bag that seems sturdy...I'll get it...but if not I'll just give in and get a backpack.

It's so easy to just slip loose papers into your notebooks! And any notes or textbook questions are already in your notebook!!

That was very helpful 😂 it's all so confusing to me, I'm glad we don't use the terms in Canada, I wouldn't have known what grade I was in 😂

That's another thing...in elementary school you need so many school supplies...markers, pencils, pens, erasers, glue sticks, scissors, and a whole bunch of other stuff but what do you actually need for highschool? Obviously pens, pencils, erasers and stuff but what else? In the states the school supplies are sooooo cheap at Walmart!! I live in Canada but and hour or so from the boarder so we always do back to school shopping over there.

Lol Vallerie! Same here! It's a lot easier having our grades. Jk, sk, grades 1-12. Easy as pie!

I got markers and pencil crayons for art class, but, the class supplied you with glue sticks, scissors and the other supplies you needed for that project! I loved using those mechanical pencils! No need to sharpen you're pencil every time it breaks, great time saver 😂 I always loved colourful pens 😍 papermate makes thee best pens and mechanical pencils! I really suggest those 👌

Thanks! I kinda half guesses that they would supply glue sticks and things for projects but I wasn't 100% sure. I absolutely looooove coloured pens!
