My friend uses two clean and clear cleansers and say they help with her acne. I'm wondering what are the best clean and clear cleansers for me to use? I have combination skin that does get break outs. If not a clean and clear cleanser then what drugstore cleanser or a cleanser not too expensive will help me clear up my acne?

Clean and clear is too harsh for me

A cleanser will not clear up acne. In order to get the benefits of a cleanser it needs to stay on your skin.

Are you using any spot treatments or Chemical Exfoliants?

I'm using mario badescu acne cleanser, mario badescu cucumber toner, mario badescu spf 17 moisturizer, and clean and clear advantage spot treatment. I recently just bought michael todd blue green algae antibacterial toner. What else could I buy that would help clear it up? @Kitty K.

Hydrogen peroxide ruins your skin, it burns it away.

I use the Neutrogena oil free acne wash (it's green) every morning and every night and whenever I can throughout the day when I'm not wearing makeup and then every night I moisturize with Vitamin E to fade away scars I get from picking at the blemishes. It's been working for me considering I used to have horrible skin! ),:

Discontinue or return the clean and clear spot treatment.
The reason I advise that you do so is because it is based off of alcohol and other irritating ingredients.
Irritation does not need to be visible or felt. When you use products with irritating ingredients, what ends up happening is that you basically trigger more acne and an increase of oil production. The alcohol listed is far too harsh which also ups oil production.
The Clean and clear persa gel is definitely a much better choice in terms of a Benzoyl Peroxide treatment. Other options are Tea Tree Oil ( One of my favorites ), Sulfur, and Salicylic Acid.

Drop the toner as well, it is also alcohol based.
Mario Badescu has an Aloe Vera toner which is fine and good for redness. Alternatively, it's just water and aloe vera and a preservative so if you have a vitamin shop or health store near you I recommend just purchasing Aloe Vera and making your own to save some $$$. Aloe Vera has salicylic acid occurring in it naturally and is great for redness. I've used it myself, it works beautifully.

As for his lotion, I don't see any actives listed for spf protection so I suggest you pair it up with an actual sunscreen. Sun can be quite damaging to the skin and very harsh. When dealing with acne SPF is important since the sun can basically aggravate it.

For the clogged pores on your forehead a good BHA will do it some justice. I currently use Paula's Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant which keeps my skin crystal clear from clogged pores. Alternatively the liquid BHA from paula's choice doubles as a toner so using one isn't essential but can be beneficial.

I love neutrogena acne face wash (the pink one.) That has been my go to for years! Sadly recently it hasn't been working and I've been breaking out like crazy! So I've been using clearasil ultra rapid action and just on the first day my face cleared up quick. Not even the neutrogena gave me such amazing results and its only 5 bucks (6 bucks with tax) but so worth it!!

The toner is fine, but just like I said it's just aloe vera and water. It has some (not too much) Hyaluronic acid which is good for dried out skin.
As for the gel I need to see the ingredients but from what I'm reading online it has alcohol which is not any good...and what's the expiration date?

Not sure of the expiration date but I do have combination skin. I don't really have the money to purchase paulas choice right now.. is there anything cheaper I can buy that will help clear this up? preferably at the drugstore considering I live in a really small town in the us with just walmart, walgreens, kinney drugs, and rite aid as my drugstores...

Paulas choice for me cost me $11, the only one thats good at the drug store at about $12 is the neutrogena's rapid clear lotion (orange tube). It's not really a moisturizer with salicylic like advertised, its a BHA exfoliant so you still need to moisturize afterwards.

Kitty, where can you buy the Paula's Choice BHA Liquid Exfoliant?? I don't have acne really but my pores get pretty clogged on my chin & cheeks. I'm hoping this will help!

Online it says paulas choice is $23. Where did you purchase yours? Which moisturizer would be best?

I use clean and clear.

I bought my Paula's choice online. Just sign up and send a referral link to your friend. I believe if they sign up you get $10 off. They usually have sales a lot as well so you can just wait for one.
